I really think we need a Marco Verratti/FDJ style player beside Casemiro.

Who do people think we should be targeting for midfield btw?

I don’t watch much outside of the PL at all.

We need cover for Casemiro hugely, that would be the second midfielder we need to buy. Plus an upgrade/alternative for Eriksen that fits the system better if we want to play 1 DM with 2 energetic CM/AM players ahead.

Yeah I thought we’d be looking for a deep playmaker rather than Mount who is a 10 realistically.

Caicedo would be an excellent partner or alternative to Casemiro. Going to cost a fortune now though. If only we could have bought him for 4 million and loaned him to Brighton.

Agree with this. More of an alternative to Cas. But that's what we need, two quality players for each position and get them fighting for their places. It ups their game.

Plus people get to hung up on money. It's not yours or mine so it shouldn't be an issue for a football fan what we spend for a quality player.

I dunno about this one. Don't really rate him but I suspect he's one of those who does a hell of a lot that the casual fan doesn't see...he's got to with the calibre of clubs/managers chasing him.

Most Chelsea fans I speak to also seem to rate him highly which says a lot.

This is how I feel about it… I’ve never seen much to get hyped, but enough people in the footballing world rate him for me to think he must have something.

Even half our own fans thought carrick was terrible for several seasons… sometimes midfielders are just hard to read until you watch them week in week out

Not a player I'd buy but then again I'm not the manager!

I did read an interesting piece on him last week though explaining what he could offer and perhaps Ten Hag fancies he can really mould him into the player he wants.

It could be one of those wtf transfers that actually works!

I think you'll sell McTominay and buy Mount and that'll make your squad stronger.

Mount always played well under Lampard at Derby and Chelsea (first spell). He took on a bit of a lampard role, and I don't mean bacon ones. Arriving in the box, right place, right time. Not been the same since then.

Could a new club and manager get him back to that? Would that role work again? Maybe, but I'm glad we are not in for him anymore, we've just got shot of AOC.

Not massively, though. MounTominay doesn’t move the needle for this team, unless it’s as a squad role when Donny facks off also and we buy an actual top cm.

The issue I have with Mount is his on-ball qualities don't match his off-ball qualities and that's why I've never taken to him when he's played for England. Under Southgate he's shown lots of graft but little craft.

He's really hard-working out of possession and he's got decent movement and while those are things we could do with as well, we really need a midfielder who can take primary responsibility in build up and help with controlling the rhythm and tempo of a game. We need a midfield which doesn't get completely outmanoeuvred in possession by the best sides.

Probably true, but every player linked to any other club would be THE player to take us forwards over the one the manager clearly would rather us go for.

We've gone through e ougb Wiltshires and Ramseys to know it depends a lot on the system we are running at the moment and we know the system we want now, we spent all of last season to sign him, we watched a poor defender and runner play every season and watch him become an average and let us concede every decent midfield competition.

We need a Rolls Royce. If he was, Chelsea won't sell him. They would play him every day and throw piles of money to him. Imagine If we could let born and bred player for any reason other him not being world class talent.
