Do we really want to go higher than 40m?
Pull out, pull out now!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because he is kak.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not to be rude but if you think that your ball knowledge is poor.
A player of the year for a team who won the champions league is not kak.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever. Only one of our fans on here think he is any good.
And we all know you would thrapp yourself stupid if we took him off your hands for 40 million.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I genuinely haven’t watched enough of him for Chelsea nor England.
I therefore have asked Chelsea fans what their opinion is of him and whilst they might not know exactly what we need or what would work for us, the fans I’ve asked have all been very positive about him.
I think there’s a limit price-wise but he could be a good replacement to Eriksen.
Chelsea fans generally seem to rate him highly and I think he was their player of the season for two of the last three seasons?
He may be another Mata where he’s good but not quite what United need; that’s my only concern.
But I don’t think he’s ‘kak’ - whether he would be for us is another story entirely as many have fallen off a cliff with us.
I’d take him happily at this stage but not for more than £50m say. Ultimately, if it’s up to ETH then I still have trust in his judgement; he’s much more of an expert than any of us.

Caicedo would be an excellent partner or alternative to Casemiro. Going to cost a fortune now though. If only we could have bought him for 4 million and loaned him to Brighton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this. More of an alternative to Cas. But that's what we need, two quality players for each position and get them fighting for their places. It ups their game.
Plus people get to hung up on money. It's not yours or mine so it shouldn't be an issue for a football fan what we spend for a quality player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know that but there is a thing called FFP.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think FFP is quite the hindrance that it’s made out to be (within reason of course). I’ve not read enough detail to be fair but:
Clubs are permitted to spend up to €5 million more than they earn per assessment period (three years). However it can exceed that level to a limit if it is covered by a direct contribution from the club's owner
If that means revenue then I think we’re still fine to spend a lot, let alone if we sell to Jassim
I might be well out of touch / ignorant on FFP but I think we’d be fine signings-wise, especially if it’s Qatari ownership.

At £40m, I think it's good business for both parties.
With one year left on his deal, we shouldn't be going any higher than £45m imo. Surely there are better options on the market?

Agree on both points (or at least the first part of your first one!).
Ultimately, I think this’ll all stall. Poch will want to keep Mount, Boehly’s team will otherwise want upwards of £60m, and United won’t pay that much.
We’ll know quite soon though. Chelsea have to sell before 30 June to register the benefits of any sales against the 2022/23 season for FFP accounting purposes. If it’s going to be done at a price United will like, it’ll likely be all done by then.
I'm actually a fan of Mount, rosso. Think he has numbers in him and is a managers dream off the ball as well.
Great attitude, good experience, even marketable if we look at things outside of actual football. At £45m I wouldn't mind if Liverpool had a look as long as it's not daft wages.
Chelsea do have to raise funds, I'm hoping Liverpool tempt them for Colwill too.

I posted the other day about Chelsea’s transfer predicament.
Generally-speaking, their best performing players and most exciting prospects are the ones they’ll both find easiest to shift and benefit most from selling from the perspective of FFP accounting.
The ones they’ll actually want to shift because they really aren’t performing and in some cases are getting on a bit are going to be difficult to move and, even if they are moved, won’t really help them much.
They’re going to have to sell multiple very promising young and homegrown players - some or most of Mount, Gallagher, James, Colwill, Broja, etc. - over the next couple of windows, and it’s going to rile their fans up a treat.

Aye. I've never seen what others see in Eriksen since he's been at our club.
He's 'ok', but SAF would never have had him here, the guy is useless if the game is fast, which most are.

Tbf he’s very reminiscent of Scholes once he couldn’t run.

Perhaps a bit, but scholes was more talented and also about 6-7 years older at similar points in their career

At £40m, I think it's good business for both parties.
With one year left on his deal, we shouldn't be going any higher than £45m imo. Surely there are better options on the market?

I reckon the HG factor is important to Utd, otherwise I don't get the pursuit.
£40m seems about right to me too.
