Stokes is an excellent skippers but needs to bowl to warrant his place in the side. Bazball has a big impact on test cricket and has changed test cricket forever

Shame we are going to fall a little short of 10,000 comments. I feel like the OT wash out has had a bigger impact on this thread than the Ashes. Stopping us from reaching that magic number.

You really are the most awful human being.
I think Stokes should bat 3 from now on.. India for instance
Crawley (whos surprised me and long may he continue)
Duckett
Root
Brook
Bairstow
Foakes
and four bowlers
Theres no way Bairstow should keep wicket from now on in. Hes been terrible in this series and doesnt look a natural mover for a keeper.
Stokes
Not sure how you get 2 spinners in and 2 fast bowlers in the 11.. Stokes may have to bowl. Thats the tricky part in India.. Dont know if Root is up to being a second spinner.. so will see what happens for winter tour

How have you come to that conclusion? We lost both games he bowled in yet we won 2 and had rain spoil a chance for victory in the other that he didn't bowl in. Had a great series with the bat and leads the side with absolute clarity of thought. Gets in as a captain. Gets in as a batsman. Great fielder.
If it enables him to play for longer then I'd be happy to see him never bowl again.
This Ashes was an excellent advert for test cricket. Most competitive since 2005
I do like Pope at 3 but he's known to have troubles against spin so I would actually put Stokes at 3 for India and bring Foakes in at 7 with Bairstow at 6.
If he has an operation then he should be able to bowl so we can field 2 seamers, 2 spinners + Stokes and Root
I think i read theres no odi cricket?? I just checked the fixture schedule.England play NZ in September for several games. including 2020s
Which 2 seamers would you take? Woakes seem to bowl better at home and doesn't seem to be as consistent away from home so I don't think he'll be selected. I can't see Anderson going. So that leaves 2 of Wood, Robinson, Tongue
Robinsons fitness seems an issue. You can go into a test match with 2 main seamers and Robison being a question mark.
Dunno, India is a completely different place to the rest of the world... be massive if we won there.

Yup. Terrible take from Warmonger. Weirdly timed too considering he's just had a superb series with the bat, miles above his career average.
Stokes gets into literally side in world cricket even on one leg.

Think you take Wood, Robinson, Tongue, Jimmy, maybe Potts and then hopefully someone like Stone or Mahmood can get themselves fit.
Jimmy was exceptional last time he played in India so wouldn't write him off just yet.

Itisarguably harder to win in India than in Australia and I amnot sure what bowling attack we will have avaliable. If Stokes can't bowl in India where reverse swing is key as much as spin then we are fecked. I doubt Wood can play more than two tests out there due to fitness.
Wow how good is The Hundred? It is really easy for me to follow because I have a really low attention span and extremely low IQ. It is also over in time for the Mrs to put Made in Essex on as well. Really great stuff. I do like how they are changing things to suit the majority like me. Like a Question of Sport. I love it now that it has changed. Sometimes they wear funny hats so it's much more relatable for me.
I'd be interested to see the viewing figures.
This is why they couldn't have a reserve day at Old Trafford.

I think its time Foakes was given the gloves for good. you cant afford to drop players in India., And Bairstow is more likely to do that
