You can’t give Levy much credit for this one surely - he has a year left on his contract, Leicester have been relegated and Newcastle didn’t table a bid. Pretty sure I could have got this one over the line.

Oh give over, Chris! This is the exception, not the rule. If I took issue with us not signing a certain player it’s because we’ve historically always baulked at prices like this for a player with one year left. If I’m cynical, it’s cos Danny boy made me this way.

Anyway, feck it! I don’t care. We’ve finally got some creativity and an absolute banker as well. There’s no danger in this signing. For the first time in ages, we can almost guarantee it’s going to work. We’ve not had that for a while.

Respect to Levy for getting this one done so swiftly. It’s unusual to see. It’s almost as if there might be some money coming in soon and he wants to keep the fans sweet 👀

Probably less than £60m, since Newcastle cooled down their interest...
