This is likely going to be Carey's only Ashes series in England. This is what he'll be remembered for.
——-
I’m sure he’ll be fine. The players are considered heroes here and all the news here is about the MCC ghouls being investigated for breaking rules.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Still got to get through three more tests here of being reminded about it. It's likely the only thing anyone will want to talk to him about in future Ashes series. Even the Aussies will forget anything else about him this series as time goes by.

Hopefully he’ll be remembered as the clever WK that helps us win 5-0 in England for the first time ever.
Bairstow will be remembered at the dumb player who didn’t protect his wicket and who fans beg to be dropped for Foakes.
So essentially the counter argument is "it was within the rules, the ball definitely wasn't dead because Carey threw it immediately, Bairstow then left his crease whilst the ball was hurtling towards his stumps but he lacked awareness and didn't see this, BUT I'm a little cry baby so need someone to blame for England losing so I'm creating faux outrage to try and deal with my disappointment, completely ignoring all evidence that points out the hypocrisy of this, also I shall make up some new rules only for this incident which have never existed before and won't exist after this incident"

I like what Broad was caught saying to the wicket keeper on the stump mic. "That's all you're ever going to be remembered for" and he is right because these things are rare in cricket so stand out. I hope we select Wood in the next test and rough him up!
———
Broad should know as he’s guilty of breaking the spirit of the game himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No he isnt. Not walking is common place in cricket. The majority of batsman don't walk and will wait to be given out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. No idea why folk keep posting his bollox about Broad, like it’s in any way comparable to yesterday. Broad didn’t walk after nicking one behind … like every single other batsman would do these days. So what’s their point exactly?
No point asking a question in the op & then discounting any points deriding the actions of the aussies.
You're gonna reap what you've sown
Robb, I see you have Steve Smith in your name. He was banned, as was Warner, for cheating. When you say people over there don't remember these things because they're heroes, does that include Smith.
Re Bairstow, he was out, no question.
But the sixth ball had been bowled, everyone knew the over was over. Bairstow wasn't trying to gain any advantage.
Some call it smart by Carey, I call it lmean spirited.
I agree with Naby8. Comments on it.

Of course he’s a hero, one of the best batsman of the last 30 years. He made a mistake and cheated and was rightly banned. But he served his time and came back and has been immense since. He’s a great redemption story.

This.
Really simply put, the keeper will have watched Jonny and noticed he'd been leaving his crease.
It's a fair and square stumping.
Those posh tory cants with their daft blazers need to remember the history of the sport. Especially when it comes to England!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It really wasn’t a “fair and square stumping”. Bairstow stands up, half turns, deliberately taps his foot behind the crease, and only then walks out to tap the pitch or whatever. No hint of trying to gain any advantage, so to try to claim otherwise is utter bollox.
