There are quite a few food chains that converted cashless after COVID...

The other day, I was in Farmer J watching few tourists struggling to pay for their meal using cash as it is a cashless restaurant

Only thing I would say is that with every electronic transaction your money diminishes ever so slightly - ie. we're all being charged to spend money. With cash a fiver is still a fiver, no matter how many people's hands it passes though. It is a bit of a con, but doesn't trouble me too much as an individual, losing pennies every day. But from a broader perspective it irritates me that people make a very good living from doing pretty much feck all.

Offset and more by the fact you can buy things cheaper without cash, online than you can using cash in a bricks and mortar location.

Only if you are an Amazon fan that sells stuff made in China....

For example, if you want to buy some local produce at a farmer's market it's cheaper to buy at the market then say in Sainsbury's or Amazon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why would you buy it twice? Why not just once at the market? See no need to go to the supermarket after and buy it again.

I don't have a cheque guarantee card so I'll have to get a bankers draft or a postal order.

What do you need cash for?
*Closes your bank for not worshipping trans people*

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is being stamped out by regulations fortunately.

I cannot stand Nigel Farage but having his bank shut his accounts for being pro-Brexit is an incredibly dangerous precedent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He isn't wealthy enough to have an account with this exclusive bank.

I remember when they changed to contactless payment on the Edinburgh buses and recently I turned to my friend and said "remember when we had to go into shops with a tenner and try and buy something that would give us exact change for a bus?"

Then he said "Pierre, that was just last week"

It's funny how quickly we forget about things that were very inconvenient when we are made to do things that are more convenient

My local Chinese takeaway is cash only which is a total pain in the backside and ridiculous in this day and age.

It would be best if they took both card and money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same if you go to a car boot sale though. Cash only, especially as it's generally older people there who have no idea about smart phones or apps etc.

If said peenis is a whopper, you'll get a better deal in Burger King.

Yeah to hell with old people, we should probably stick em all on an island somewhere and leave them to fend for themselves, would be so much easier.

Online, yes, maybe, but a pint in the local costs the same regardless, or paying someone to work in your house - no discount there either. In fact probably the opposite, for quite different reasons though
