Good players do regularly move clubs though, and players that have ‘been sold’ by big clubs have often still been good for other teams.

Still trying to think of one that was an unquestionable success. But I do understand that sometimes they are done.

We actually offered the same amount as you offered (200k), sadly the damage was done last season. James and Chillwell were both on over 200, Sterling over 300k. Mount was pushing for more, we refused to negotiate and only offered him more recently. His advisors (Dad) had had enough and refused to listen. We could keep him but he would of been free next season. His time at Chelsea is done. Sorry to see him go but I can understand where he's coming from. It's Bern a difficult couple of seasons at our place.

Good to know we are not the only ones pissing away stupid money on average English players...

Can see why he was annoyed then winning player of the year all the time and getting paid less than half their two fullbacks that are allergic to playing 3 games in a row.

Mount wasn’t their best player for most of that time. I think people should be more concerned that he’s a flat track bully that doesn’t create unless it’s from set pieces. All graft no craft.

The fact he's got more assists than any Chelsea player in 4 years means this statement is a bit silly. He's also made the most chances too.

There's no way they are all from set pieces.

That’s more to do with Chelsea’s attackers being shiiiiite. I think he has nine assists from open play for Chelsea.

Ronaldo didn't do too badly........

Also, Casimero, Ashley Cole, Kyle walker and many more

There's hundreds.

I think he will do well anyway.

Rather see him over likes of Fred Mctominay Donny and Eriksen personally.

I think he will be one of our best players this season.

Why do people keep saying he's an underwhelming signing?

Last 4 years at Chelsea:

Most apps
Most starts
Most goals
Most assists
Most chances created
Player of the year X 2

I think he will be really good under ETH.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All of that is meaningless. If you have watched him play over the last two years you would understand why a lot of us think he is an underwhelming signing.

Hope he proves me wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't understand why you keep saying 2 years VC. He didn't do well last season, but who did at Chelsea? The year before that he played well, was Chelsea's POTY and had a goal involvement every 130 minutes

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because I had not watched him play previously.

None of this means anything if we don’t buy a striker and all signs suggest either Ten Hag has his hands tied due to FFP or he actually does think a young unproven striker is up to the job.

Just think… we could have spent the Mount money on Mitrovic and been in a stronger position right now in my humble opinion.

And then look at his stats in the premier league over a significant period.

Overpaid for someone in their last year and salary is huge but English relatively young works hard versatile lots of exp for his age reliably fit and has has proven he can score and assist 10+ each in a prem season.

Chelsea fans are a lot more upset over this than Havertz leaving for example.

We need some legs and graft in our midfield and he has it in spades. We also need more goals in the team and he's a good goalscoring midfielder. It's win win.

It makes a lot more sense than many are saying. Caicedo has been mentioned by some folk who don't want Mount but they are completely different players. Caicedo n Casemiro in same midfield would be tremendous for our back 4 but It wouldn't help us score more goals would it?

We definitely need a number 9 though too. That's where I do agree with everyone.

The hate must be from fifa fan girls because hes not that flashy enough as a player. Doesnt dye his hair pink and do cruyff turns or w,e.

……

That would be like us being more upset that Casemiro would be leaving instead of Fred.

Mounts value is going to be tactical. He’ll provide us with better movement in midfield and we should be able to maintain possession and counterpress much better than with Eriksen and Fred.

I’m interested to see how Ten Hag goes about setting up the midfield. Could be that we see Shaw tucking in alongside Casemiro a lot more to help us build up and defend counters, similarly to how Zinchenko does for Arsenal.

I don’t hate him, I just don’t rate him that much. I felt exactly the same when we signed Sancho.
