I don’t understand this signing, he’s not gonna displace Bruno and he isn’t gonna replace Eriksen either coz the bloke can’t play deep midfield. It just doesn’t make sense why we’ve doubled £55m on him.
Change of shape in midfield seems likely, Arab.
To what though Daz? A flat midfield three?
Why was his hair blonde in his exit video but today at Carrington it’s brown
Did he record this months ago and only just release it!?
He won’t need to play ‘as’ deep as we needed Eriksen though because he’s actually physically able to run and cover more ground.
Might see him and Bruno switching in front of Casemiro in the easier games depending on the tactics and set up. Bruno will come deep to get on the ball at times too.
United midfield..
——- Casemiro———
—Bruno——-Mount—
Arsenal midfield
————Rice——-
—Havertz—-Odegaard
I’m a bit worried if we’ll be relying on a 31 year old Casemiro as a DM for the majority of our games next season, we need to buy another option in there.

Why do people keep saying he's an underwhelming signing?
Last 4 years at Chelsea:
Most apps
Most starts
Most goals
Most assists
Most chances created
Player of the year X 2
I think he will be really good under ETH.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All of that is meaningless. If you have watched him play over the last two years you would understand why a lot of us think he is an underwhelming signing.
Hope he proves me wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't understand why you keep saying 2 years VC. He didn't do well last season, but who did at Chelsea? The year before that he played well, was Chelsea's POTY and had a goal involvement every 130 minutes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because I had not watched him play previously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you think he played poorly in the 21/22 season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He didn’t do anything that jumped out at me to suggest we should buy him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Goals? Assists? Pressing? Mobility? Ability to play in a number of positions? Ability to carry the ball through the midfield? Ability to beat a man?
I wouldn’t say Eriksen plays deep midfield and I will say that Mount will probably be a better player for us than Eriksen who I am not a great fan of anymore. He is awful on the defensive side of the game.
Yeah maybe. Or having him and Bruno stationed higher with the full backs tucking into midfield, which we’ve seen at times under Ten Hag. He’ll tinker with the lineup I’m sure as we don’t have a team good enough to impose ourselves on all the teams in the league, especially away from home.
There’s a number of teams are using a ‘box midfield’ to build up play now, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see us use that at times with Mount and Bruno ahead of Casemiro and one of Shaw and Dalot.

No.
We need a new cb that is good on the ball and a keeper that has those same qualities. It’ll be a struggle with Varane and De Gea otherwise, as we’ve seen the last two seasons when playing out from the back.
The proof will be in the pudding anyway chaps. Let's get behind him as he's now going to one of us.
I'm excited about having another option in midfield with an eye for goal.
I think Onana is gonna be our new keeper and I’m gonna be so foooking happy, especially if he’s gonna play on the ball like he did in the CL final.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flat track bully who scored or assisted in the QF, SF and final of the CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And then look at his stats in the premier league over a significant period.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Assists home and away against Arsenal and one against Spurs.

For sure. I get behind all the players we sign whether I think they are any good or not.
Still a lot of missing pieces to fill in to be able to dominate sides with the ball, only have one CB comfortable being pressed and good passing through through the lines, although Varane is better than our previous options. A RB as good as Shaw would add a lot to our attack and midfield too.
Keeper goes without saying.
Think addressing those would lead to dominating more games and creating more chances, and goals regardless of who we sign up front. Wouldn’t be ‘as’ crucial if the likes of Rashford or Antony miss a couple of 1v1s a game as we’d have a lot more chances to make amends.

I think we can see an increase in chances and goals due to these important tactical changes. Brighton didn’t score more than us because Welbeck is a good striker. It’s because they can actually dominate teams and get lots of men in the box.
