I haven't seen any negativity towards Hendo myself, at least not on here.

Completed football MoronGreaves. Meanwhile "World Class" Kane is still waiting for his first major trophy.

What an imbecile.

There is a bit of a back story regarding his previous comments on human rights (which Saudi certainly don't share) but also generally at some point money perhaps should start to mean a lot less than it does to normal folks living and working hard for less pay in a year than he makes in a week.

He's already got a good 20 odd million to his name. Would have decent options that wouldn't exactly pay pennies that aren't in a regime like Saudi.

Believe it or not this isn't supposed to be a criticism, it's his life and good on him if he just wants to earn as much as he can and enjoys doing that. He may even think that he, along with others may be able to positively influence many of the grim realities of life in Saudi through bringing over a less religious fundamentalist perspective to things (same goes for much of the middle east when it comes to the rights of women and minorities at the moment sadly).

Fair play to him. The money is disgusting but I couldn’t blame him for taking it.

It’s Hendo’s life and if he’s got an offer to add to millions then good on the lad and sod all the wokes!

It’s disappointing given all Henderson’s done in and out of football for causes to support oppression.

Suggest anyone complaining about Henderson's moral integrity should read the Barney Ronay article in the Guardian about this very subject.

He was happy to play for England when it's kits were made by child labour

Hendo needs to be given the respect a multiple title winning Captain deserves. A good player, a great captain and I wish him all the best.

End of day money talks.

Hendo has just shown that and if I was in his position I would.jump in a heart beat. But hopefully this is the end of moral bashing. I was sick of it in the world cup yet the media (mainly german and english,) and their staff etc where more than happy to go and get the cash. Just leave all politics out of sport. And then players like hendo won't have to look like such a twit when the money is slapped on their faces like a big schlonggg and they are waiting to lap it up and find an excuse for going.

£40M for fabinho is great business, we bought him for £39M I think.

That £40M will no doubt be added to say a £30M and we get another younger top of in.

So..

D Sloz
Macy
Bajtectic
A other
Elliott
Curtis
Thiago (?)

That's a pretty young mc and talented.

I can understand any negativity, it's the counter to the praise and admiration he received for speaking out on issues that mean a huge amount to him.

I don't expect footballers to speak out on any issue. That's not their job, not their responsibility. I do however admire those willing to use their platform and voice to further causes or address issues which they care about.

In Henderson's case, his passion for the LGBTQ+ community was wonderful to see. Going to Saudi where same sez activity is criminalised up to and including capital punishment; well lets just say it's certainly a contradiction.

I get that money is tough to turn down. Would I do any different? I honestly have no idea. And I'll never have any idea because I'll never be offered that kind of money and, barring some outrageous good fortune, I'll never be worth an estimated £25m. As such I wouldn't be too critical of him, but I do understand why some are.

If Hendo takes the money then he’s a huge hypocrite. There’s no other way to slice it.

The article is an exercise is whataboutism, but the truth is there are many people that won’t take money at the expense of compromising their values. It’s a personal choice.

To me Hendo has more choice than most, he’s already a very wealthy man.

Being so wealthy you'd struggle to spend the money you have in several life times, affords you a far better ability to pick the moral choices.

Your average person has far less choice. Even being slightly better off gives a lot more choice (electric vehicles, more ethically sourced products and food etc etc).

Again I'm not saying he shouldn't go for the massive pay day but I am saying it's very different to someone like you or me getting offered obscene money to spend a few years doing a far easier job than we currently do.

Everyone has his/ her price for which they will cave in and do something against their morals/ beliefs. However there are some whose price cannot be matched. If you utterly, truly stand for something, there is no way you would cave in regardless of if you were offered the world or alternatively threatened with death.

At this point I believe all the top level players are being paid too much. It’s obscene at a time when so many people are struggling.

Salary cap, salary cap, salary cap. If they don’t like it, they can shove off and do something else. Plenty of semi-pros and amateurs out there that never had the opportunity to make it that have as much talent if not more that could take their place and show more passion and happily play for a fraction of these crazy wages.
