I wonder, if rangers had sold Morelos and Kent both for £40m, and they had still spent what they have this summer, would the fans be sitting on the club deck thinking “we’re big spenders”. Just a thought…

Last 5 years (just plucked a figure)

We've spent about €60m in transfers fees, that's including our spending this summer

We've brought in about €55m in transfer fees over that time period (Bassey, Aribo, Patterson sales making up the majority of that)

We could still sell some more players before the window closes...so our net spend over a 5 year period is about €5m, so about €1m per season

To me, that's not big spending for either of the old firm, and that's not even taking into account our income from the Europa League run and our Champions League campaign last season, money that can be used by the club off the field

You of all people really don't need to ask that question, pretty sure you know all about our finances over the past 10+ years

Unlike Celtic, we didn't have the opportunity to benefit from spending next to fck all to ensure domestic domination for a sustained period while still reaping in the rewards that European football brings

So a debate about the old firms spending in 2023, descends into Celtic fans having digs about decisions taken and the after effects of our administration in 2012

Fabulous

It's a fairly pertinent point tbf stevie.

Years of mismanagement

Which is why we are "skint"....it's not pertinent, it's fcking obvious...but still the question is asked

I'm quite happy to concede the "our club is better run than yours" trophy, it's not even up for debate

Just made the point that either of the old firm having a net transfer spend of €1m per season, can't really be called big spending

And I think the wages bills recently have been comparable. Not sure he has sustainable that is longer term due to structural inferiorities at Ibrox.

Worth noting that Man City’s net spend in last 5 seasons is c60 times what rangers is 🤷‍♂️

There was a 5m difference last year. Ours was potentially inflated due to Europa bonuses but no idea. Been a bigger difference in previous years.

Celtic have a stronger balance sheet, but our profits this year will only increase with CL money, plus Bassey, Aribo so we’re well placed going forward to be run well.

The 'after effects of administration' - giving Gyles Brandreth a run for his money there, Stevie!

How are we treating the £134m of debt that was shed?

Same way that any other company in the UK does when its assets are sold off and it enters liquidatio......you know, a legal process that I'd imagine happens pretty regularly in this country

If you want to get embroiled in all the moral arguments about this stuff...crack on, but I got kind of tired of all that $hite many moons ago mate

"The 'after effects of administration"

Yeah, you know being run by a shyster like Charles Green, and then all the Easdale and Mike Ashley shenanigans...then the "back where we belong" revolution under Dave King....which all happened after and a result of our administration

Not too sure how else you want me to phrase these things like...sorry if it doesn't meet with your approval
