What’s most worrying to me in terms of deals this summer is that so far we’ve only managed to raise just over £40m in fees and we’ve not done enough to trim fat off the wage budget. Off the top of my head and very ballpark, we’re probably spending something like £700k a week on players who will barely get a sniff of minutes this season if they stay.
We’ve got what should be decent assets to cash in in Maguire and Henderson, both of whom are capable of putting in very decent shifts for established PL sides, and we’ve still got several players on the books that we barely seem able to give away, notably Donny and Bailly.
Wages is obviously a key issue in moving some of these players on, but we still seem to be lacking strategy-wise in this area.
But if the rumour is true that slabhead wants a payoff from the club if he is to move then that's a large chunk of money we lose too. It's absolutely ridiculous if true, why should the club pay off the remainder of his contract if he does want to move?
No one seems interested in Henderson. Forest were but then decided to go for Turner instead for whatever reason.

He's basically being told look mate we don't want you so how about you do us a favour and move to another job doing the same role for lesser wages, please mate?
And he is saying how about No? He has a contract what person in their right mind willingly will take a pay cut when they have a contract paying them more for doing nothing but sitting on a bench?
Put yourself in his shoes.. you'd probably ask the same from your current employer if you had the same T&Cs.
All that said I do really hope he never gets another second on the pitch in a United shirt.
Not saying he can’t stay and earn his wage, it’s a contract the club offered him. My issue is that he seems to care more about his bank balance than his career (again his choice) which considering his wealth already is reason to not be happy with him. He’s 5th choice CB, he’s unlikely to play much at all this season and possibly risking his place in the Euro squad next summer.
On top of that, wanting the club to pay off the remainder of your contract (at the risk of wasting his own career) which he isn’t entitled to is pretty pathetic. The only way he can get the money from our contract is by staying and rotting away in the reserves and he’s chosen that over a decent move to another PL club. Knoobhead.

Can we hope that Southgate gets on the phone to him and explains that his chances of playing for England are zip diddly if he’s only playing an hour of football every month?

I don't see Southgate using the phrase "zip diddly". Much too adventurous.
Didn't Southgate speak to Henderson before his move to SA reassuring him he'll still be in contention?
While I would laugh if slabhead lost his place in the England side we all know Southgate has his favourites sadly.

Have West Ham got any Greek players? That could explain why the move collapsed.

Rumoured to want Kostas Mavropanos as an alternative.

Which would, in turn, Kostus Morpainos.
Harry Kane needs to instigate some kind of fight v Pavard then suggest Harry Maguire would be a better fit for the Bavarians. Swap deal sorts everything out then!
