Depressing end to the day
He will keep his England place even if he sits on the United bench all season.
It's what you get when you pay average players way waaay more than they should be getting... He'll see out his contract and leave on a free like the rest...
What a way to round off the most disappointing winning start to a PL season I can remember.
Last week we looked like we were about to sell McTom and Maguire, now we’re stuck with the pair of them and it doesn’t look like we’re getting another midfielder either.
Southgate will play him regardless

Maybe not, if someone like Colwill really stakes a claim.
Fantastic news.
For Maguire
I still reckon he'll leave before the deadline.
Maybe not to West Ham but I can see someone coming in for him. Perhaps.Maguire doesn't want West Ham because he's got something else lined up? Villa perhaps?
If he is staying to fight for his place then I'm not going to knock him either. If he's available for selection and wants to stay then good for him. We moan about players not being loyal so it does go both ways.
If he could get his form and confidence back then I doubt any PL team will have a better fourth choice CB.

Yeah, it does look a bit like that doesn't it!
If he did get his form back though I wouldn't be too unduly worried seeing him in the team if we sort the structure out. It may even lead to us defending a bit deeper and becoming a counter attacking side which could suit!

No Pavard then.

Probably done for signings now unless we get a fee for Beeky.
McT, Henderson and Maguire were meant to fetch our biggest fees to fund another CB that can actually run and play in ETH system, and a CM partner/cover/replacement for Casemiro.
Another season of being a couple of injuries away from getting hammered every week with players that just cannot come in and do the same job as those they’re replacing.
Grate news
Good too see another legend not being forced out

I'm still hopeful on an Amrabat-type signing.
Sometimes hope is all we have.
Frustrating, but we move on with him as fourth choice. What a numpty.

André Onana, Simon Hooper, Mason Mount, Michael Salisbury, Rasmus Højlund... could have been worse but should have been better really.

Considering the money spent, it’s pretty underwhelming tbh.
But, in Ten Hag we trust.
We also need to respect the club too for this. Maguire has said no to leaving and they've accepted that and not tried to force the issue.
And this is why he get the hate, an arrogant slabhead who thinks he’s better than he is. Why should the club pay him a fee to leave, that’s not how contracts work, yes he is entitled to stay and earn the money he agreed in the contract but he can’t take it all if he moves and the next club don’t want to play him the same wage.
We could have brought in a top quality World Cup winner RB/CM who’s only 27 years old. Instead we’re left with a belllend who can’t run or do anything under pressure.
