Also the 'abuse' he got last night worked, the Scottish fans put him on edge and he messed up. All part of the game.
I can’t decide at this moment in time who is a bigger cancer out of Maguire and Rishi Sunak, and believe me it takes a huge amount for me to ask that
Terrible player, so he deserves criticism of his performances, but the abuse in football goes too far.
The guy should have gone to west ham and rebuilt his career in front of home fans that will not hate him and earn his way into the england squad.
Right now he looks stupid for hanging on at United and now he's been drafted into England despite his lack of real game time for ages.
I feel sorry for him. It must be awful to play under such mockery and he must feel dreadful coming off that pitch last night but he could have helped himself here too.
The manager needs to read the facking room. There's 50,000 people in that room as well.
What abuse did I miss or are we talking about the Scottish fans cheering him (which was fecking hilarious)?

Tbf to slabhead I don't think people are dying as a result of his actions.

I bet a few amount of folk are thinking of tying a rope round their neck every time he steps on the pitch tbh
OTT it was a friendly , and it's just football, a game.
The only bit I don't understand is that whenever I've seen Maguire or Southgate talk about his form, the seem to believe absolutely nothing is wrong and the criticism is completely unwarranted.
What's all that about. I mean it was a shiiiiiit own goal last night, on his heels, slow to react and marking thin air whilst steering it past his own keeper and it's hardly the first time in the last 18 months.
And yet they seem to think the criticism is mental.
From there outset out does appear unfair but like many have alluded to he courts such maltreatment on himself.
If he is no longer a regular for his club then why should he get a squad position let alone be a starter for England? Southgate needs to be careful as he risks player disquiet within the squad. Maguire may end up getting the same treatment from players in training sessions!

True, but he has become a patomime villain, a meme because of the way he plays. People are just thinking, he's taking the mick and collecting whatever he gets paid. Such a bizarre scenario, wish it involved someone else's player but we really do seem have them these days. It's a reflection of how far we've fallen.
Should have taken the route out of Utd and rebuilt his confidence and his reputation.
The guy is a walking disaster.
Is there genuine hatred from many? I thought he'd genuinely just become the biggest joke in football, although I say that as a non Utd fan.
I do feel a bit sorry for him but he's also not blameless.
He is like a magnet for mistakes in the same way the club is currently a magnet for negative new stories.
Both need to be reset before either gets anything like back to its best. Maguire took the jump from mid PL level and it's not worked. He's been found out at this level where he's expected to do more than just block shots all game.

No, I think you're right. There was a point where he was getting death threats from Twitter (who hasn't) but like you say he's just a joke more than anything. I do think the media are overblowing things a bit, he was targeted and booed last night because he's useless and it worked, same would happen to any plank who has managed to sign for a huge club, made captain and is sh-t.
Yeah and it feels like the joke is at Utds expense too, not just his. Either way it's not fun, will absolutely crush his confidence and feel more personal to him.
It's literally got to the point where's he has been brought up in Parliament in some African Government.
I mean that's crazy.
But he had an opportunity to get away and resurrect his career at West Ham but choose to stay for the money. I have absolutely no sympathy for him.
We were on the verge of replacing him with Pavard but then Maguire supposedly wanted a £7m payoff from United.
No one hates Maguire, but the fact he's like 5th choice for Man U but gets in the England team, every time, makes him a immediate target, then he does some stupid $hit, like yday, to justify everyone questioning why he's there in the 1st place.
BBC are saying he stayed at Utd cos of the injuries.
