Well, that'll teach me to be so subdued in my pre match analysis. What an afternoon!

During his pre-match press conference, Pep Guardiola named the threats to Man City this weekend as Neto, Cunha and the 'Korean Guy'. When the second goal went in, Wolves tweeted the goal announcement with the scorer listed as 'the Korean Guy'.

I think the differences between the Liverpool game, when we also led at half time, and today we’re firstly that 5 at the back suited the situation today. But mostly whereas Liverpool were rubbish in the first half and changed after the break to slam us, today City we’re not rubbish in the first half and came out after the break trying to do the same stuff.
If teams are going to try to nick Neto in January his performances recently will have put about £10m on his price.
I think the switch to 5 atb was the obvious thing staring everyone in the face, GON got that right today and I'll give him credit for implementing it with far more positive intent than Lage or even Nuno at times did. The back three looked comfortable pretty much the whole game and they adapted really well.
Jota sent off for Pool, down
to 9 men now.
Certainly didn’t see that result or performance coming but what a great afternoon . Little doubt it was a win Wolves deserved. City lacked creativity on the day but that was largely due to us staying well organised throughout. Doku was the man that created the most problems for us but Semedo handled him well first half and then we doubled up on him after the break.
All the Wolves team played well and ran themselves into the ground. Dawson was excellent in defence, by far his best performance of the season. Gomes outstanding in midfield, won no end of tackles. And Neto was a constant threat to City. Right back to his best and always positive on the ball.
Let’s hope that sets us up for the season ahead
Not surprised. I thought Wolves have looked better than results have suggested. City nearly always play an open game, and if you’re good enough you’ll have chances. Think you’ll kick on from here. Anyway god luck with it. Except obvs in the return fixture!
Klopp:
Neither was a red card.
Their goal ruled out should have stood.
The own goal was really unlucky.

Both were red cards, but the disallowed goal does look dodgy.

Speaking of sore losers though ...
I see VAR have fooked up again but it's a major issue now because it's a top 6 club suffering. Just bin it off and the incompetent fools running it. Get refs on from overseas who understand the game and have no bias, conscious or otherwise.
I don't think it's that the officials don't understand the game. I think it's that there is more concern for covering for their mate than getting the correct decision. Since the creation of PGMOL it's become like a firm.

Boris still a bell, even in defeat. Dunno why 'inky' is his middle name, it should be 'defends blindly'.
Also, have to say, Haaland may be a great finisher in the box but it is laughable that people try and put him in the same category as Ronaldo and Messi as the next great. Not even close ffs.
Despite them dominating possession Haaland had 15 touches all afternoon. Not passes, touches ffs.
He is up with those players in terms of goalscoring though. He could easily outscore both of them if he stays injury free.
23 years old and has already scored 215 club goals, whilst having score 25 goals in 26 games for Norway. Its outrageous.
No doubt he is a great scorer Tam. But he doesn't influence a game in other ways at all like the other two did.
He doesn't, but he doesn't need to. You are pretty much guaranteed to get a goal a game from him. More than one goal involvement a game from him when you include his assists (he got 7 in the Premier League last season). He manages that regardless of how good the team is that he plays in now.
If he continues at this rate throughout his career he will rightly be considered on of the game's greats. Much like Gerd Muller is.
Haaland is your typical CF and not a creative player like Messi or even Ronaldo. He mainly scores from inside the box, but credit to Dawson today for keeping him quiet.
Wouldn't mind having Haaland on our bench, Hwang does tend to be a bit injury prone.
Quote from Joao Gomes on twitter alongside a pic of him taking the ball off Nunes,
"Proud to be part of this group. Today's game shows that we have no vanity and we run for each other in favor of the Wolves' success."
Quite telling I think.
