That’s never a penalty, he’s got no idea where the ball was and he’s looking at Rashford.

He watches the ball come over, then turns his back on it. I had no idea the rule was 'just don't look at the ball then it can't be a pen'
Just having no idea where the ball is aint a valid reason

Yeh. Insane. What's the defender even doing really?

how would that be a penalty? that'd be ridiculously harsh on the defend and palace to give that. its just unfortunate for utd maybe but no way is it a pen.

Because he looks at the flight of the ball, then the ball hits his hand, which is away from his body, preventing the ball from coming to Rashford.

There must be something wrong with my eyesight as I really can't see a pen there. Is it meant to be handball? I'm genuinely not taking the piiis, it just looks like Rashford messed up what was a great scoring opportunity

Ah ignore my previous comment, I see it now after reading your explanation. Yeah it actually could have been a pen but we know that it's United and we're already one third of the way to our 3 a season quota
The ball didn't make it to Rashford because it hit the defender's hand before it got there

Yeah I got there in the end. My eyesight is rubbish 😂
If that had come from the other direction, i.e. Rashford kicked that at the defender's arm in that position, it'd have been given as a pen, but for whatever reason because he stopped looking at it, it's not a pen?

No you're completely right, it should be a pen. His hand has played the ball when it's come from that distance, not the other way around. But it's United so never mind
Yeah, should be a pen. I've no idea if it is by the letter of the law anymore, but should be.
The 'hands down by your side' rule shouldn't really apply when you've had about 2 seconds to watch the ball come over.
The way handball is judged nowadays is a joke.
I can't figure out what the defender was trying to achieve.....
He saw the ball, and was what, just waiting for rashford to take it down?
Why wasn't he trying to head it clear or do something with it?
Weird defending and even weirder officiating that this is actually allowed to go unpunished.
Dont know the rule but it should be a pen. You cant act dumb and say you werent looking at the ball, when you deliberately turn away from it knowing its coming towards you
Ward who handled it actually looked at Bruno Fernandes passing it so knew were the ball was going and last second extended his arm and denied us a clear chance at goal. Sort of reminds me of Southampton handball not given when arms stopped a certain goal chance.
