VAR hasn't got it wrong...the Human factor has
========
The Video Assistant Referee is a human. The VAR did get it wrong.
Due to the standards, competence etc., of the on-field ref and linesmen, none of them to officiate in any LFC game for the remainder of the season. The word ‘corruption’ has been used time and again on this post; with a total complete and utter lack of any evidence to support that the users have got it wrong.
========
Why would you stop the ref from officiating Liverpool games specifically if it was just incompetence?? That sounds more like you feel it was a specific issue for the ref concerning Liverpool...
Not sure I believe this story coming out this morning personally- it just seems unbelievable the referee as well as two VAR officials haven’t realised the goal hasn’t been given. Also doesn’t explain why they don’t go back once it’s clear an error has been made and it’s still 0-0.
I still think they’ve decided not to award the goal. PGMOL needs to be disbanded. This sort of stuff can’t continue.

So my understanding (could be wrong) is as follows.
The ref obviously knew the goal hadn't been given but apparently didn't clarify that to the VAR (presumably he just asked him to check the offside call).
The VAR thought, for some reason, that the goal had been given and that he was asking to confirm it was onside. So he looked, saw it was clearly onside and said "check complete".
The goal was the disallowed but apparently was a check has taken place, as soon as play restarts there is a rule that they cannot go back to it for some reason.
corruption claims are pretty baseless.
======
2 former PL refs have admitted corruption already. Not the glamourous money in a brown envelope, back alley meetings type, but corruption all the same.
and funnily enough both refs who admitted corruption did so in favour of Spurs...

what is the point in VAR, if it facks up decisions like that

ok the main VAR got it wrong, but 34 seconds between that and the restart of play. Wtf is the assists VAR coote doing? Coote was it? Sat there in silence so not to make his colleague look silly?

Been asking this question all morning.
even if the var ref thought he was just confirming the goal was onside and good..
the ball is then put down for the play to restart from the offside position.. not the centre circle...
does that not raise a single bloody idea in the var ref's mind that something is wrong here?.. and tell the ref to wait.. and then double check what was supposed to be happening
the whole game.. reffing and var, was just errors and incompetence on top of errors and more incompetence..
they shouldn't just be removed from overseeing the next couple of rounds of premier league games.. based on this level of inability, they should never be allowed in charge of another game.

Unfortunately, the weird rule says as soon as spurs take the free kick it can't be revisited so by the time VAR will have realised that it's been given as a free kick it's probably too late.
Surely the ref said free kick. And they should have been watching, cos he clearly signalled it was disallowed. They had plenty of time to clarify the call.
So the VAR team watched Diaz cut his celebration and heard the Spurs crowd sarcastically cheer and thought a goal had been given?
Do we need them to be drink/drug tested before each game?
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-tottenham-var-referees-pgmol-officials-update-b2421825.html
I don-t want to comment on the red cards as you can see both sides, and I don't want to enter a debate that depends on opinion rather than fact. But I think that everyone, whoever they support, has to acknowledge that VAR is supposed to guard against what happened at Spurs yesterday. A clear onside goal ruled out. It wasn't even a close call and is just unacceptabe.
Now, my less rational side.... Getting pssed off with VAR making purely subjective decisions and ruining games. Jones yesteray, Gusto last week, not interfering when yellows are not merited, interfering when reds are harsh ... what's the point??? We all want player safety, we all want players sticking to the rules and fair play. But want we all want most is fairness and a level playing field. This is what VAR was brought in to safeguard but it is not doing that, So what's the point? The season has just started and we have penalties and red cards being given by VAR which are nonsense. It has to end!!
