Beckham burst a gut in the 1999 CL Final to drag us back into the game. Still full of running on 90mins and never giving up. A great example of a really talented player also working hard. I think he'd get assists for fun nowadays too in a 4-3-3.
Facking excellent player. Wonder what level he wouldve achieved if the media left him alone.
I'm not one for celebrity documentaries but even I might have to watch this one.

Probably many millions less, I imagine?
Great player but played the media game even better and is still doing so.
Got some stick for going to Qatar but thought he answered the questions about it very well in various interviews yesterday. Great ambassador for the game world wide.

Yep, and you can see that in the first episode of his documentary as well
Becks was a great player but same level as Rooney, Giggs, Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard etc - not for me.
Such an underrated footballer. I’d kill to have a 23 year old Beckham in todays squad both for his ability and attitude.
He’d embarrass most of the squad with his work ethic
An advert for hard work over natural talent (like Lampard) to achieve what he achieved.
For all his hard work and attitude he did have a good touch, great passing range, top set piece delivery and free kick taking.
There were more "naturally" talented players, of course but the overall package you got from him, from him solely as a player media stuff aside was excellent and he would still cut it at the top level today, I had almost forgot that that he still did well after Utd
Good player but was a bit overrated.
He was a brilliant player but his fame will always overshadow his ability on the pitch and what he will be remembered for most. But that was the path he chose and why Ferguson didn't want him anymore. Doubt he has many regrets, won loads of trophies and played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
He'd be perfect for us right now, so much better than the RW options we currently have.
Great pro and very strong mentally to be able to cope with all the media stuff, one minute you’re the golden boy, next minute they’re crucifying you
There was a great comment from Gary Neville at the premiere. Not an exact quote but this was the general message.
"Fergie told us to fight for each other always on the pitch and support one another always"
We didn't know how good we had it. We had the best manager, best team and most importantly the best attitude. That's why we were top dogs.
Today we don't have any of those three.
Probably helped having a bunch of kids who all dreamed of playing for United, it was the perfect set up.

If things had worked out slightly differently over last 2 years our front 3 right now could be:
Rashford Hojlund Greenwood
All United fans.
Still not got over the Greenwood saga. He was the ace in the pack. The academy player that comes around once in a generation and he spaffed it all away. Such a stupid lad.
You never know with this club, we might bring him back next season after a successful loan.
I love Rashford but I don't think he'll ever be in the same league as Beckham, Giggs or Scholes in terms of talent.
I was always with Fergie when it came to DB. Yes was a good player and part of the band of brothers that carried United through that era and he loved United. He still does. But the influence that his awful shallow wife had over him was a distraction both professionally and directly for Man United. In the end he or they more like just had to go.
Yeah Ferguson made the right call and like I said Beckham chose the showbiz path and knew Ferguson wouldn’t be happy. From what I’ve heard Beckham and Posh aren’t really a couple these days, it’s all for the brand. He’s definitely having fun without her.

They are as shallow as each other and '82 correct - all about the brand. To be fair I think the decision was as much as Fergie couldn't handle it as DB? He went to Madrid and had plenty success after all so couldn't have been a distraction for him. These days the clubs actively cultivate the celebrity side for revenue.

She wasn't nicknamed posh for nothing - pre-DB anaw.
He's not spoken of in the same breath as Scholes and Giggs because he wasn't even near them in terms of ability. Scholes for me is the first name on any historical PL midfield team sheet. Beckham was a very good player, but not near the likes of Scholes.
I remember having an argument with a mate once because he had the audacity to say that Beckham was a much better player than Glenn Hoddle. I nearly spat my beer out. This convo was over 20 years ago and right in Beckham's pomp but still, Glenn Hoddle was a generational talent. It shouldn't even be a debate.
Its nor a debate. Hoddle was the most talented english player in his generation after Robbo
Massively overrated, particularly for England.
Spaffed 15 freekicks into the wall/crowd for every one he actually got on target. See England vs Greece.
