Emerson booked for waving imaginary yellow card after being fouled by guimaraes
Hojlund was guilty of it on Saturday after being fouled but ref obv never saw it, needs to cut that crap out

True. Spurs lad also did the same for the Jota foul when already on a yellow. I get the feeling it’s something the refs will never give a 2nd yellow for even if they should.
Referees are humans. If you get 10 people, 5 will decide one way and 5 the other. Everything happens so fast. Also with second yellows, there is no VAR involved. May be allow the ref to watch the screen for possible second yellow offences.
Its the classic reaction to an initial over reaction.
The ref for Spurs vs Liverpool was probably too harsh, there's been lots of moaning.
SO this week it goes the other way, refs show a bit of leniency.
I don't think people can moan about a strict ref one week and then cite their decisions when moaning about a lenient ref a week later.
Consistency would be good and I would rather see the slightly lenient approach than the overly petty approach. IT used to be the case that the ref might give a guy one more chance, next one and you're off sort of thing, and that would be better. We have already seen too many people booked and off for absolutely nothing.
When Spurs played Sheff Utd there were 13 yellows in a game with 2 bad tackles and a handball. The whole thing is becoming more and more about the officiating and really they should be largely annonymous.

That last paragraph is absolutely spot on.
We talk far more about the officials than the players after games now and how sad is that.

Yeah I think maybe 5 of our 8 games so far this season have had a discussion over refs after the game which is pretty woeful.
Yesterday again they failed to apply the laws correctly as Gross should have been sent off for a clear denial of a goal scoring opportunity.
Amazing that we have people in such highly paid positions and they're all pretty fking clueless. They have the technology there but do not know how to properly equip it.
Dermy will clarify all at 11am of Ref Watch.
The lack of consistency is infuriating. One moment the bar for a second yellow is high, the next every foul on a yellow is a sending off. Comparing what Tomiyasu got sent off for with what Kovacic didn't just leaves you feeling cheated.
Bear in mind the same ref felt it necessary to punish Martinelli twice in one passage of play not so long ago!
Maybe people are starting to get outraged at the right thing. A player getting their leg broken might just be worse than the player getting their leg broken asking for a yellow card. Ohhh look how foreign he is acting. BOOK HIM. His leg is in half Pete!!
There’s always one City player on the pitch who cannot be sent off

I can understand the lack of consistency by the onfield ref as they will have different views in different games but the lack of consistency by the VAR refs is infuriating.
Perhaps the solution is to have a set of refs who solely work on VAR so you should get consistent VAR decisions
Just another highlight to how inconsistent and poor officiating in the prem is. Or corrupt, depending how you look at it. Seems to be the same teams on the end of them and same teams benefitting. But theres enough variety to argue the former.
There were worse tackles from both sides during the game but Gary Neville didn’t issue a command to moan about them

bs, and even if there was they prob gave up after seeing the joke of a decision not to send Kovacic off so wouldn't be able to blame them.
How about the time wasting from Brentford, and only 6 minutes added at the end, which weren’t even played out.
State of officiating is a joke.

City played proper anti football yesterday, kicking Arsenal at every opportunity. They basically played on the hope that Arsenal would make a mistake (which they almost did).
What about red cards for last man professional fouls? Sometimes refs give them sometimes they don't.

Even yellow cards. Refs will book a player for a blanket foul stopping a counter then 2 minutes later not for a similar instance.
Any foul where the ball isn’t played should be an instant booking. Regardless of where on the pitch it is.
imagine jota sat at home watching the footy on a sunday with his pastel de nata seeing Kovacic and Guimares get away with worse 2nd yellows than him. Or Lemina wolves watching motd in his aubameyang Pjs thinking i was 1 of 3 rightly 2nd yellowed.
