Think at this stage he’s trying to get sacked
The moment the club say “oh don’t worry it’s his birthday” it gives the other players room to make excuses.
They all have birthdays so that’s at least one pass each. Then some could say, well it was my partner’s birthday, my kid’s birthday, etc.
You create a whole world of trouble if you let one do it unchecked, that is why he called him out.

Think at this stage he’s trying to get sacked
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Picking up stupid fights with everybody certainly will get him sacked quicker than even losing matches.
Apparently he's had some sort of fallout with Varane too
I’ve no problem with him going out and celebrating his birthday and don’t agree with the manager calling him out for it. At least not publicly.
He should be pulling him for churning out dire performances week after week and pulling him for continuing to try and run clean through opposition players. Does Marcus actually think he’s going to magically achieve osmosis sometime soon?
The guy is paid £18m a year to play at the highest level, score and create goals, give 100% and dedicate himself to his profession, which involves some sacrifices.
Rashford is doing none of this other than taking his monthly £1.5m pay cheque home
Doesn’t matter what people on ja606 think about it
If the club have set standards about this sort of stuff, like going out celebrating, or turning up late to training then the manager is well within his rights to call him out on it
It's the not the point yhat it was his birthday, we've just been humiliated in the derby.
Go home and show some humility instead of prancing about publicly

Rashford would have known about the rules before he did it. (If there were rules).
So by doing it anyway I wonder just how much control Ten Hag has over his players.
I mean, I take it everyone is okay with Fergie going round to Lee Sharpe’s gaff where him and Giggsy were partying, throwing everyone out of the door before tearing a strip off those two

That was a different scenario tbh. They were both youth players who were likely told under no circumstances were they allowed to do anything whilst in the youth program. Rashford is an adult who was surely allowed to do what he wanted in his spare time. Not sure why Ten Hag is disciplining him.
The club had originally planned to have the Monday off which is why Rashford planned to go to the club on Sunday evening. However the day off was canned and players were expected to come in which Rashford did, I think the issue is that being out so late the night before will impact his ability to train to the level needed. Rashford has apologised himself so I see no issue.
SAF wouldn’t have lasted two seasons in the crazy media landscape of today.
We’re never going to have another manager who lasts more than a few season unless he’s backed by the club and the majority of match going fans.
Hopefully the views on social media, click bait articles, hyperbolic TV pundits and hosts are being dismissed for what they are.
That would take half competent owners though, so I fear he’s toast.
Micro managing to the max?! no wonder players don’t look to happy on the pitch - they’ve had the joy of playing sucked out of them!
That was us Spurs under the previous regime. Get rid

He’s been backed more than any other manager and has us facing our worst start of all time. The club and fans can only do so much - the rest is up to him and if he can’t get the players to stop the slide he’ll deservedly be sacked.

There'd still be people criticising if he'd replied "No comment," "It's an internal matter," or "It was his birthday."
It's reached that stage with ETH where some fans will micro-analyse anything he says or does in order to weave it into the narrative that suggests he has to go.

I’m sorry IOAG but he has to go. Today.
He was at a club in town wasn't he?
Birthday or not, it's not a great look after getting smashed by your city rivals, at home, in a game where you were abject.
I was listening to a podcast saying that ETH is simply trying to raise the standards (this goes for Sancho too) but he looks to have lost the dressing room in doing so.
Tbh it's a nothing story. I don't think him going out is a big deal but I think the public stance has to be that it is, so when asked the manager is right to say this. Bottom line is, he's still in the squad so that's more telling than anything said in a press conference

This is why I’m not hugely fussed about Conte coming in as I finally realise these players need an arm around the shoulder manager. That’s why Ole lasted as long as he did as I’m sure the players loved his matey style but he just wasn’t a great manager overall which is why he eventually bombed.
We need a good version of Ole to come in. Not sure who that is.
2) If it is indeed an internal matter as the manager just said, why make it external by hanging Marcus out to dry?
———————-_—————-
Now this is where you clearly show that you’re not understanding the situation because of your blinkered views on ETH!
Yes it’s in internal matter but when its in most of the newspapers that Rashford was out then ETH was asked about it in his press conference and he handled it perfectly with his answers he didn’t hang anyone out to dry ffs!

That's exactly what's happening. And if he gets sacked for trying to raise standards and being thrown under the bus by the players, what next?
We'd presumably bring in a more "cuddly" manager. But all this would do is allow the culture of short cuts and unprofessionalism to grow even further than it already has done.
So that, as much as anything at this stage, is why I want him to remain. So he can continue to call out low standards and to take action against those who rail against it. In the long term, that will do us more good than bringing in an arm around the shoulder manager. They don't need an arm around their collective shoulders, they need a kick up the backside

I said last night and I agree that Conte would be a disaster with this current dressing room. But long term, for the culture of the club, I think indulging them will do more harm than good
