So that, as much as anything at this stage, is why I want him to remain. So he can continue to call out low standards and to take action against those who rail against it. In the long term, that will do us more good than bringing in an arm around the shoulder manager. They don't need an arm around their collective shoulders, they need a kick up the backside
———-
I’m sorry but that’s delusional thinking. In an ideal world I’d agree with you and it would be great if that was the outcome. But it’s just impossible for that to happen as the manager can never ever win a battle against players who want him out. Every loss as United manager is a catastrophe to an extent and when they come along as often as they do there’s no way a manager can stay in the job, no matter how well intentioned he is.

I do want to stay positive though and think a Goldilocks manager is out there who can motivate these players without losing them and also getting wins.
Ange imo is one but of course he’s not coming. Maybe Brendan Rodgers but would he leave Celtic again so soon?

There'd still be people criticising if he'd replied "No comment," "It's an internal matter," or "It was his birthday."
It's reached that stage with ETH where some fans will micro-analyse anything he says or does in order to weave it into the narrative that suggests he has to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sorry IOAG but he has to go. Today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pas de peau de mon dos - or something like that.
Ten Haag was not invited to the party
‘Hanging him out to dry’ sweat and gentle Jesus. He was asked a question and he answered it. He said it was dealt with and it’s over. What is wrong with the world these days. It was the same when people said Sancho was ‘called out’, no he wasn’t EtH was asked a question and he answered that he hadn’t trained well. Worlds away soft.

The moment the club say “oh don’t worry it’s his birthday” it gives the other players room to make excuses.
They all have birthdays so that’s at least one pass each.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If there are three players' birthdays in the same month, they'll have strung together more passes than they do in most games.
Went out for his birthday. Apparently wasn't late for training on the Monday morning. Don't see the issue at all.
There's meant to be a few other PL players there including Malacia and Foden and I'm sure others were there too but just weren't seen.
It's a total non story.
Erik has lost control now and lost the players. He will be gone within the next few weeks.
Why would he try to get fired? He sure doesn't need the money
Not if he gets home late, has little sleep and has training early next morning. The original plan was based off having the Monday off but that was scrapped, as a pro you do have to prioritise your work and even though he arrived on time I’m sure players are specifically told to not stay out late because it will effect your levels the next day.
I have no issue with EtH trying to bring some standards to the club, it’s been needed for too long. This isn’t even an issue, Rashford apologised and they move on.
Nothing incident all round.
Rashford is an adult and, as such, should be allowed to do anything within reason.
ETH was really caught between a rock and a hard place as he can't be seen to have double standards. I don't expect Rashford to have to stay home after a defeat but I'm sure Erik, when he saw the story, must have thought "Couldn't you just have kept a low profile today?"
Had the day off never been scheduled then I highly doubt Rashford would have planned to go to the club. The issue is that when that changed Rashford should have though that going to the club was probably a bad idea. Players still have a life and can go to lots of things but staying out late will probably effect your performance the next day.

We’re never going to have another manager who lasts more than a few season unless he’s backed by the club and the majority of match going fans.
———-
He’s been backed more than any other manager and has us facing our worst start of all time. The club and fans can only do so much - the rest is up to him and if he can’t get the players to stop the slide he’ll deservedly be sacked
——————————
Future tense “ backed “ , if, and it’s admittedly a big if, the players are turning against him, the owners must make it clear they ain’t going to get a change of manager every time circumstances get tough.
A lot of what SAF done isn’t really possible now, but one ethos still stands 100 %, the manager has to be in charge and the players must fall in line.
You can say SAF would have kept it in house, I doubt that he would have been able to do so if he was the manager of a club that’s mostly under performed for a decade.
Don’t be such easy pray for click baiters and provocateurs, accept he was simply answering a question and Rashford has the maturity to accept that, apologise and move on.
I’m betting that ETH and Marcus knew this question was coming and agreed how to handle it.
Good management IMO.

From where I was sitting on Sunday, the scariest thing was how City were a yard quicker and won every spare ball.
That needs to be addressed by good old fashioned graft in training, you ain’t going to do that without a great nights sleep ( Sancho is proof of that ). Pretty much rule 1 in preparing to perform.
It’s not the 90’s , they’re competing against machines such as Halland.

He's had short periods where he's looked unstoppable. There shouldn't be any reason why he can't maintain that other than him dropping the ball.

Rashford hasn't kicked on to the levels he should be at, and this is further demonstration that's he's not putting 100% into reaching those levels for me.
He's had short periods where he's looked unstoppable. There shouldn't be any reason why he can't maintain that other than him dropping the ball.
