It what he has always said he will player a certain way.
Klopp kept coming at us with 9 men
Pep loses 1-0 away to Spurs every season falling for the same tactic over and over again.
These guys are principled, not arrogant. I think we will appreciate this approach in the long term - we need this mentality installed in our players. None of them were fearful last night, we kept having a go and only got picked off at the end.
I love him even more for it.
What a contrast to the last few seasons.
You want Nuno back, do you prefer that “style” ??
ground disagreed with you last night
How does any manager prepare for two reds, 18 VAR decisions, 5 disallowed goals…..
Sadly but true and have to agree with you. We are not playing Chelsea U14s. Chelsea might not be pulling up trees but you can’t just play same way with 9 men as you had against 11.
The best managers try and fix things as they unfold. He just stood there and left it to the Gods. A blind man could see how this was going to end. The odd part was I Wasn’t even pisssed when they eventually scored as it was coming all day long.
Proud of the effort though but won’t be surprised if there are further niggles that’s not been mentioned. Our boys put in a hell of a shift.
Wolves team midday Saturday will be interesting.
How amazing were we in the first 20 minutes. That disallowed Son goal was just wonderful fast flowing skillful football going from one end of the pitch to the other. A shame it didn't stand. the night may have been very different.
said last night that if we sat back we would have lost and everyone would have said there was no point in defending with dier and Højbjerg at the back.
My only issue with Ange’s style is that we are a little too aggressive - but then Romero could have a row in an empty room so maybe we are just playing to our strengths
We've had 4 years of Play Not to Lose managers.
Now we have a Play to Win manager. It will and has already deliver far more positive results than poor ones.
I'm on board with that right now. It's a breath of fresh air.
Brightside: at least Bissouma avoided a 5th booking. Gonna need him in the next few matches

This..... bear in mind we had 3 great chances to equalize (Son, Dier & Bents). Dunno about u but I fancied our chances of scoring more than I did keeping them out. I think playing on the front foot creates a positive mindset rather than trying to cling on for grim death.. Its confidence sapping ! I think this is key in his mindset and the way he looks at the game and the way he wants his players to play. I'd rather lose 4-1 having gone at them till the end than lost 2-1 camped in our own box for 40 Mins.
It was a freakshow of a game.. I wouldn't read too much into it. Spurs have played with plenty of composure this season. The media is making too much out of last night... There was no good option

Apart from the occasional Romero’s head rush, not really seeing much of an issue. Udogie was just a silly mistake and am sure he will learn from it. Still quite young.

Bissouma picking up loads of yellows as well - we just seem a little rash at times - I’m sure that will sort itself out, except Romero who you just have to accept it is part of his game, but like Sergio Ramos

We lost a game, the application and spirit shown by the players was admirable and most fans went home fairly proud. Long term, it’s that mentality that will see us achieve targets.
The only negatives of last night are the injuries and suspensions which unfortunately all seemed to occur to our defence leaving us looking a bit of a shambles going to Wolves
I've got to disagree. Spurs are a good side but you are not good enough to be conservative. I think, if your key players return, stay fit and keep their form up, your style and bravery will make you the surprise package of the season - but not if you try and conserve what you have. Ange is a front foot manager, loves fast, attacking football. I am obviously not a Spurs fan, but you've got to go back a long long time since I enjoyed watching Spurs play on a weekly basis. I thought his interview was class, he backed away from criticising the ref, he said how proud he was of his players and basically reaffirmed that he is an attacking manager. In the end, you were close to equalising and niullified Chelsea with the high line until we finally worked it out in the last ten minutes. I thought some of your players showed real heart and your team spirit is there for all to see. Ange wants blood and guts and is willing to take the consequences if the players get caught out, although the one thing I'd say is that both Udogie (for the first yellow) and Romero crossed the line with a bit too much vigour. Romero is a hard one as it is his willingness to walk and cross that line which makes him both an excellent defender and on occasions a liability. Udogie is young and I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Fair comment. Edge of the seat stuff and am sure it was a great watch for the neutrals also. After 4 years of anti football think us fans just want to be entertained a little.
See it both ways as a Chelsea fan. Principally that was admirable last night, and nothing wrong with playing to your strengths even if that plays into the opponent's strengths too - that's confidence. But with 9 men you did basically gift us the three points and that is on the manager.
Against most teams you could make the argument that playing the same way still gives you greater chances of getting a positive result, but we're a special circumstance right now. Any Chelsea fan will tell you even with 9 men & a battered defence, for half an hour you could've held that 1-1 score line if you'd swallowed your pride & dug in.
However I will say that's the most fun I've had watching a Chelsea game in what's felt like forever, would've thought the same had we lost, and Spurs were the reason for that

Trying to hold on with Eric Dier - no thanks, he would have Matip’d it in the 113th minute.
1 thing I would like to see Ange develop with the trainers is some sort of plan to stay warm when VAR is doing it’s thing. Can’t help but think all that waiting around contributed to Mickys injury last night. We know they will take forever to make a decision so why can we do within the rules to stay warm?
