No way you are getting £100m for those two.
Varane sell himnin a heartbeat.
Casemiro - A world class player, and not one who relies on pace..we could keep him another season or 2 and still cash in.
I think it would be a no brainer as long as the cash went straight back into the team.
Varane, yeah.
I'm still hesitant about writing off Casemiro though. (If we got that money for him it'd be a no-brainer, but we won't)
We needed a long term successor to Varane in the summer just gone really. Outstanding defender but has injury issues and is a bit more limited in terms of his passing. He's decent on the ball but is one that the opposition will target for the press.
Casemiro could go if there was a good enough offer though I think he'd be harder to replace.
Yes, but let's not spend it on more players EtH has worked with.
Being more realistic with the money it would be around £20m and £40m (tops)
So, no I wouldn’t sell them. I’d rather have them as back-up or playing whilst fit / not suspended than relying on Scott McT and Lindelof / Evans / Maguire
If there's a CB available in January (like that Todibo who is said to be a good option at RCB) then I wouldn't be against Varane leaving.
With Casemiro I still think there's value in keeping him unless we get a really good offer.
I'd probably keep Verane and use him sparingly, signed a quality youngster to play alongside Martinez.
We need shot of Lindelof or Maguire.
What's the point. We'll just end up using to 100m to buy a player that's actually worth 30m
Yes if you throw in £500k and a years supply of favourite takeaway
2 years after signing 2 "world class" players we are now trying to get rid of them. We need to stop this attraction to players the best teams are willing to let go off so easily.

Teams improve, amongst other things, through better players / people.
Squads at most succesful / elite clubs are made up of 4 profile of players (World class, aspiring to be World class, very good, young talents / prospects)
Bringing in the odd world class player, to compliment the larger group is a positive. Unfortunately, we have to accept right now, that bigger / longer contracts is our best way of attracting these players from elite / succesful clubs.

In fairness, we knew what we were getting with Verane, and he hasn't been a disappointing signing. Our best CB since Vidic and Rio, but struggles with fitness. When he is fit and playing, he's arguably our best player. At £33m a risk worth taking.
Casemiro not so much, he was expensive and not the profile of player ETH seemed to be looking for. A bit of a weird signing but he had a great season and we probably wouldn't be in the CL without him.

Ah, but then in a couple of years we can cash in on him for far less than we paid for him
If we end up selling all the players ETH brought in, there would be little or no impact to the team, and that tells us how useless ETH is in identifying talent. Trusting him with more money is just irresponsible.

Again another reason we should be letting him go. Even if we assume he is a genius tactically and managerial, his record has been shown to be woeful in identifying talent (I may be wrong but his transfers at Ajax were questionable too)

Less dramatics. Just make your point
We keep signing high wage aging star names that give us one good season and then decline quite rapidly the next, or become a crock...or just remain plain awful. Started with, Falcao, Schweinsteiger, Ibra, Cavani, Ronaldo and now Casemiro and maybe you can add Varane to that list too. Terrible recruitment strategy with no future planning, so we keep having to replace their positions every other year with...yep you guessed another aging start name mercenary on high wages. Never ending cycle.
Clearly for marketing purposes. That's when you know club doesn't have footballing people in charge and why we been $hit for over 10 years.

SAF did it with Blanc and Larsson.
We have also signed Amad, Pellistri, and brought through Greenwood, Garnacho and Mainoo.
