The Dutch don't think that Islam is compatible with their way of life, good luck to them. The sooner we have mainstream political parties calling out stone age religions rather than pandering to them we can move in to the 21st century.

I agree with this.
Devils advocate would be if or when does the Islamic population get to a point that voting has a major input into our political system. Some precautions suggest as early as 2050, I haven’t personally fact checked any of this because, as you say, it doesn’t affect me enough to care.

Religious fundamentalism, whether Islamic or Christian is incompatible with much of modern life. Thankfully many civilised countries are seeing reductions in the level of people identifying as religious but a large influx of people with strong beliefs from outdated backward texts, particularly anti homosexual or even anti female rights erodes much of the progress made since religion dominated times.

As a socialist and an atheist I have worked in Indonesia with 50 Islamic schools developing social enterprise. There is much in Islam which is compatible with sharing wealth and serving the community and our UK schools could learn a lot about what being a real community school is. Incidentally, what is it with populist public figures and eccentric physical appearance? Wilders has his flamboyant hair; there's the hairstyle and clothing of the newly elected president of Argentina; Boris Johnson used unkempt hair as his trademark (famously actively messing up his hair before going out to face the cameras); I'd add the way Jordan Peterson has started dressing like a Batman villain the more politically engaged and overtly radically conservative his has become.
Is it a case of understanding the appeal to a certain psyche of a character who is larger than life? A case of understanding the value of brand recognition, even if the signifiers are jarring and a little disturbing? I kind of associate it with the way such characters are famed for being refreshingly straight-talking, due to being outspoken, even if the content is offensive or contains lies and logical contradictions.
Hopefully someone is writing a PhD on this and they'll turn it into a readable book.

It's because they're intelligent and perfected the art of controlling the less intelligent. The are successful at it because they cover all angles, dot all the i's and cross all the t's. From what they say, to their dressing, grooming, gestures, prose, tone, the way they walk and talk, use of hands while talking etc etc they have it nailed down.
But other people are also intelligent and some can see through it. Others not so intelligent and are irredeemably hooked for life. That's why Tories are thick, except their leaders, because only the lower echelons in the intelligence scale fall for their bullsheet.
The lower you are in the intelligence table, the more likely you are to be a Tory. This is scientifically and statistically proven to be a fact. You can look it up.
Tory leadership realises that these sheep are just there waiting to be told what they want to here, waiting to be told they're were right all along and they're not really bigots but patriots instead.

Agree with this.
Islam (or at least the Islamic world) hasn’t had an enlightenment like the west has. The west is pretty secular and we no longer criminalise homosexuality, for example.
There isn’t really a separation of religion and politics in many Muslim countries, which means it’s harder for assimilation between those with fundamental Islamic beliefs and most westerners.
How many Muslims that arrive in "civilised" countries are fundamentalists? In my experience, most just want a job and to raise their kids in a nice place and don't bother with whatever religion other people follow.
Of course there's always some bad apples, but there's bad apples in Christianity and other religions too. Overall I feel the Tories and right wing exaggerate to scare people, and nothing works better than fear.
Over hear, Muslims intergreat with everybody else seamlessly.

I've been in lots of countries and it's the same. The portrayal of Muslims as overly fundamental and Islam as incompatible with the west doesn't agree with my personal experiences tbh. Some of the Muslims in some of the countries don't even want the fundamentalism because they don't want to threaten the peaceful coexistence they enjoy with their non muslim neighbours. <
"Overall I feel the Tories and right wing exaggerate to scare people"
Exaggerate what exactly? Terrorist attacks? Net migration being over 700k last year?
I don't think the Islamic influence on "British Culture" is an issue, as people have said, it doesn't affect many of us in our day to day lives. My personal experience with Muslims is good. There has been a lot made of the predatory grooming gangs in my area (Shropshire) though.
As I stated earlier, that could change should the prospective figures of the Islamic population increasing to the levels indicated by some.

Which parts do they exaggerate though?
I think you're a bit confused regarding the subject of racism and immigration, they are not necessarily linked.
Not all migrants are "brown", or Islamic for that mater. The figure of 700k net migration in 2022 is quite staggering, regardless of your political views.

They use other methods when it comes to Hinduism, but the core is still the argument that cultural differences mean that they shouldn't come here.
It's all a bit convenient isn't it? All the people with the right culture just happen to be white. Doesn't seem to matter where you're from, Eastern Europe, South Africa or wherever, if you're white then you have the right culture.
It's not racism, just a massive coincidence.

The Dutch don't think that Islam is compatible with their way of life, good luck to them. The sooner we have mainstream political parties calling out stone age religions rather than pandering to them we can move in to the 21st century.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Built on the myth that Islam is effecting their every day life when, of course, it isn't.
They're just racist nut jobs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit harsh on Muslims, that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. What about Islam is incompatible with Dutch way of life? A few examples please.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Religious fundamentalism, whether Islamic or Christian is incompatible with much of modern life. Thankfully many civilised countries are seeing reductions in the level of people identifying as religious but a large influx of people with strong beliefs from outdated backward texts, particularly anti homosexual or even anti female rights erodes much of the progress made since religion dominated times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But a massive percentage of people in many civilised countries identify as christian and they practice their religion, go to church and it is compatible because they are not fundamentalists.
Are you saying Muslims can't do the same?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this.

They exaggerate what is seen as negative aspects of Islam so as to make it look incompatible with the west, often just an excuse to try to stop brown people from coming here.
