I think stinks of double standards, a week or two ago you rightly said this board would be nothing if everybody agreed with each other, you disagree with thedonn and you call him a cretin. It's not nice.

Thanks, Dennis, I agree 100% with you. If we abuse posters, we just make this site unwelcoming and angry. We lose posters who feel disrespected, and the forum ends up with a lot of rant. It's the different points of view that make this a great site. Please, let's stop the personal abuse and get back to the one thing we all have in common- LUFC. MOT👍

I suspect Lowfields and Don can take a bit of name calling for which they always give it back, but certainly keep it within the parameters of mostly harmless pub banter or like teasing your kid brother, not bullying them.

I actually enjoy seeing their often inflammatory opinions because it at least livens things up a bit and it can be mildly amusing at times to read the fallout, so absolutely everyone on here is part of the rich tapestry of life in all its various guises and nobody should be excluded in my opinion.

Just a quick point on Meslier, at what age does he stop being the protege, he is 23 now, he has certainly filled out this season and is now longer the bean pole he once was.
Yes he broke the record but he is maturing nicely.

That sounded dodgy, not my type.

"We often hear the defence is poor" he's been listening to lowfield too much. Fourth best in the league. They make mistakes but if you take the second goal yesterday as an example, I am sure it was down to how Farke was asking Struijk to press, tactical errors are not the same as defensive errors.

I’m happy with the signings, the manager and the football we’re playing.

I don’t believe I have an agenda against any player but I think meslier was a liability last year and I’m not convinced of this major improvement that’s suggested.. . He has less to do but still shows too much of his near post regularly in my view and gets beaten there too often. Lucky his big howler was against hudders and didn't cost us. Last year they cost us points.

Great save to secure the win at Leicester to be fair.

Hope he proves my concerns wrong.

As for posters, live and let live I say. Well… apart from the ones who disagree with my view on anything… who are idiots obviously….

The fact he wanted to stay goes a long way with me, still only 23 and nowhere near his prime years. Just googled…is he really 6’-7”? Thought he was more like 6’-4”.

Next 3 away ticket allocations.
Blackburn 7,337
Sunderland 2,000
Preston 5,646
Why so low at Sunderland?

9th largest stadium in England. I did not know that. Maybe they think they can only drown out 2000 Leeds faithful.

Hews partly to blame for the first goal. But the whole defence was caught cold.

He’s progressed well as a player and no way should he be dropped for Darlow.

Yes he’s there to do a job and make saves but so is every keeper in the league and we don’t see many 0-0 scores.

posted on 4/12/23

Wasn't impressed with Darlow when we saw him earlier in the season.

Meslier is fine for this league. Whether he is good enough for the Premier League I'm not sure. You could say that about a few players though. Premier league is brutal.

Nobody can convince me that he’s a good keeper and the facts make my case.1 nobody wanted him in January 2 international call ups are a thing of the past 3 he’s third or fourth choice for the French senior team.nuff said. And if Darlow isn’t good enough they should go for in January .I seem to remember he was good for Newcastle the year they were promoted. Finally sticks and stones etc.

So Donn, if all the England goal keepers were good enough for the hot spot, why do they only have 1?..

Oh, and a backup or 2!..

"3 he’s third or fourth choice for the French senior team.nuff said."

Crap is France has excellent players in every position, but, unlike a lot of others, they have excellent players on their bench/3rd choices!..

If we have the 4th best who is younger than any above him, then he has a great chance of becoming No1!..

And he is playing better this season than last, playing in the Championship is a thing with some managers, they'll only pick players in the top leagues which they don't class the Championship as!..

Regardless of all that, it's surely hypocritical to say on the one hand that it would be boring if everyone thought the same and then when someone like The Donn comes along and expresses a totally different opinion to everyone else call him a cretin.

Meslier was regarded as the best keeper at the club by the previous coach, and now by the current coach and obviously was good enough to get 13 French U21 caps but The Donn doesn't rate him. That view is a little out there but he has every right to hold and express that view.

Donn, your punctation makes it very difficult to work out what your arguments are,

Do you mean in point 1 that nobody at Leeds/on this forum wanted him January, or in the transfer window this year nobody wanted him. He had a difficult season but then the whole team did, but he has improved, behind a much better defence and he is our number 1. Most of us and the crowd are behind him. Do you only watch the highlights.
If it is the second point. I wasn't aware he wanted to leave, if he didn't ask for a move you may have been looking at click bate, speaking of which, I am reading that Inter are sniffing around.

2. He is 23, England's three keepers are 24, 29 and 30, he may never get a full cap but he's between age groups, U21 and full international. To expect him to go from one to another is unrealistic, don't you think.

3. I don't understand your third point at all.

On the Darlow point, I don't think anybody is suggesting he isn't an able enough deputy, he is only on a year's contract. We will need better but that's for the summer really.

As for the other bit it was really beneath the guy. Just ignore Donn.

posted on 5/12/23

I must confess that I've been thinking for some time that Meslier just isn't improving.

Yes, he does some outstanding saves at times, but some of the 'bread & butter' saves he seems to miss.

I just don't think he's the best keeper we can afford. The club needs to strengthen in January if possible.

People get so wound up so easily.

As for Donn adding nothing to this site,
his threads already racked up 40+ posts.
That's not nothing. People need to stop
being so precious.

As for Lowfields (and Donn), I agree with
LIW, they are fans. Not WUMS. Let
both of them have their say. Does it ruin
people's day or something? It's a bloody
opinion site. Opinions from a bunch of
knuckleheads (myself included).

Get a grip people.

I agree 49. Meslier for whatever reason, doesn't
instill confidence for me. I think it's the Orta factor.
That bloke was so hit and miss to the nth. Mes
is a good keeper. But, if we do go up, new keeper
for me, would be top priority.

People seem to forget, Meslier played in the Prem for us, the season we ended 9th,(boy what a season that was eh?.)and the season we got destroyed!..

Mistakes made by him cost us, but so did mistakes made by others, I wonder if he'd had made less mistakes if those infront of him hadn't had made so many!..

All keepers make mistakes, but sometimes they're made because the people in front of them ain't doing their job right, and that at that time was the whole team and not just him!..

For me marks out of 10

Commanding the area 5
Distribution 6
Shot stopping 8
organising the troops 6
Positioning 6

Thought he would have kicked on a bit more than he has. Like has already been said good enough for the championship but needs to improve. Which he can do.
Still a young keeper. Probably needs a change of scenery to challenge him more
