I think the stories saying we were were just clickbait, EtH never specifically mentioned Martial regarding an extension. There’s no logic at all in extending, even for the idiots running the club.
It’s mental we still give him minutes with the effort he puts in. I’m sure we’ll just replace him with some other tripe we haven’t properly scouted.
I've always liked the way he plays and he started off quite well, with a few hot streaks here and there... Just hasn't happened for him consistently though.
He’s been here nearly 9 years and has never scored 100 goals for us yet, bloke is literally a waste of space.

Yeah he’s very talented and plays the quick one touch game I love to see but even without his injuries he’s just never looked like having the right mentality. I feel like it’s the sort of thing any half decent run club would have researched when scouting a player.

People are like a nervous wreck on the edge of a breakdown.....I'm not surprised people thought it was possible.
If anything renewing somebody like Martial's contract is on brand for this club.
It is clearly a marketing study. They put out a story about Martial getting a new deal, then a week later put out a story about him not getting a new deal. The aim isn't to gauge fan opinion, it is to gauge activity from each. The amount of clicks, shares, comments etc. So that they can learn and adjust content in future.
There is literally no actual news worthy of publishing about transfers for about 90% of a season, but they need to be putting stories out every day so it is almost all just nonsense. But it is what kind of made up nonsense the marketing guys need to be focusing on, to generate the most activity.
BBC get it as well. In their gossip section, they put things like Barkley to leave Luton in summer, MANCHESTER UNITED (in bold) not thought to be interested.
None of anything is real.

Martials decline has become an shining example of what has become of this football club. And clearly has had to go for a while now. However it wasn't always like that early on in his United career and was even a bit of a favourite at OT.
'£50m down the drain? Tony Martial scores again!'.
But that all dried up.
8 years.
So at some point I assume, United went give this lad a contract extension.
If that was after the 3rd season then more fool United because by then it was apparent he wasn't it.
