Wolves had two brothers play for them in the bad old days of the 80s in the Bhatti era. Campbell and Cavan Chapman were the sons of our former manager Sammy Chapman. Both were quite useless and part of possibly Wolves worst ever team

Mattheus Cunha one of 8 players nominated to be voted Premier League player of the month for December
Is this game televised? Not sure why it is on a Friday night if not.
It is televised. Bizarrely it was moved to Friday for TV but it’s for overseas tv not for the UK
In his press conference ahead of the cup game GON said he expects to field a strong side with little rotation. Although of course Hwang and Ait Nouri won’t be there and neither will Lemina who is still in France with his family.
With regard to the transfer window he emphasised that the financial restrictions remain so there won’t be any big signings. If transfers out are agreed then that would give more scope. He acknowledged that there is interest in Sasa but said he won’t be sold unless a deal is agreed to bring a new forward in.
Luke Cundle has been doing well on loan at Plymouth this season with 4 goals and 5 assists. His manager there, Schumacher, has recently left to take over at Stoke and is keen to take Cundle with him. They are interested in a permanent deal for around £2m
Guedes is still a Wolves player and currently on loan at Benfica. He did well there last season and there was an expectation they would take up the option to sign him permanently in the summer of 2024. But things haven’t gone well this season and they no longer see him as a good signing. The player is therefore looking to move in in January either to Spain, where Villarreal are interested, or maybe to Saudi.
Wolves youngster Owen Hesketh is to spend the rest of the season on loan at Kidderminster. Kiddie are currently bottom of the National League

Hopefully Saudi for a dodgy amount of money.
Although I imagine it will be a loan deal. I'm no accountant, but for FFP does it show as a loss on the accounts for the season if we sell for less than the value that was amortised over the contract length? We would have to declare the remaining balance in this year's books, so if we sold for less than the remaining balance it would show as a loss.
That's my understanding, but it could (and probably is) wrong.

Fortunately, Spangles is an expert on this subject. 👍
Not sure how accurate these figures are but if we signed Guedes in the summer of 2022 on a 5 year deal for £27.5m then the cost would be amortised in the accounts at £5.5m per year for 5 years.
So £5.5m in 22/23 accounts, £5.5m in 23/24 accounts. If we then sold him for £10m in the summer of 2024, the charge in the 24/25 accounts would be the balance not amortised of £16.5m less the £10m received, so £6.5m.
So you could say we make a loss of £6.5m in that year, but then again we were going to amortise £5.5m in that year anyway. And we have the benefit of nothing left to amortise the following two years so in those years we will be £5.5m better off compared to the original plan.

That's how I thought it worked. Thanks.
So I reckon unless we get a decent fee, it will be a loan this month with a view to a transfer in the summer. As a sale now would negatively impact our FFP for this season if the loss is incurred in January 2024.
It would be better for us to sell in the summer. So if Villarreal want to sign him in January then a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer would work best.
I suspect with any signings we make in January we will try to agree similar deals where we have an obligation to pay the fee in the summer rather than in Jan.
Makes more sense why loan to buy deals are more preferable to some selling clubs in January now. Or why there is a premium sometimes on players that aren't necessarily in club's plans to buy at that time.
Yerson Mosquera is in the Wolves squad for tonight’s game and may get a start. Lots of championship teams are interested in taking him on loan in January but GON wants to take a look at him first
Sasa will be on the bench for Wolves tonight to provide cover with no Hwang or Fabio to call on. But reports in Germany say he will be flying to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt afterwards. We wait to see whether that loan deal includes an option or obligation to buy
Sa or Bentley? Had thought Bentley was a more than adequate stand-in but last time out he did have a bit of a stinker.
Bentley can be OK. Makes some good saves, but he also has the odd howler in him and doesn't really command the box very well. You can see why he has spend his career in the Championship. Not quite good enough for this level, but I suppose is adequate for a back up.
May as well have kept Ruddy, he is better than Bentley.
Bentley had been doing ok but he was poor at West Ham. Would like us to have an upgrade next season because I think Sa would be missed too much if he picked up a long term injury
Yeah, I think we should upgrade position too. Although I would be surprised if we were looking for a replacement for Sa in the summer. He has been linked with a move away alot.
