forgot we were playing today.

Sounds like we were decent despite the early red.

Neto took a short corner and then was given the ball back before squaring it for Doyle. That's an assist.

I think the game again showed how important Neto is for us. Down to ten and looking unlikely to save the game, we started causing them problems once he came on with his runs down the right and his corners, one of which lead to our goal

Yes he gave us an outlet and we would not have got the draw without him, lovely goal by Doyle and nicely set up

Yeah, I know it's technically an assist, but it was a 25 yard strike from Doyle after he shifted it past a player to make the angle for the shot. If it was a player people didn't like, no one would be talking about the assist.

It was a nice corner routine, but Neto's pass nearly took the shooting opportunity away. Doyle had to shift it to get the strike he did. All the credit goes to Doyle for me on that goal. Still, it's nice for Neto's statistics and his general running at people was a big part of the performance in the second half.

I actually think we missed Hwang's running in behind today. I think that's why we are looking for a new striker and Sasa and Silva don't fit. GON wants someone with pace to push behind the defence and all Cunha to drop deep like he does.

What is the view of Santi Bueno? Seems to be getting good reviews elsewhere.

No doubt GON has got this squad unified which looked like it may be a tall order in August, fair play to him, he really has done a brilliant job after a tricky start. Very pleased he has proved me wrong.

I think in his last couple of appearances. Santi Bueno has shown he’s up to the job. After the sending off last night Brentford had a high percentage of the possession but didn’t create a lot and that was largely down to a solid defensive performance in which he played his part

Still think Gomes sending off was harsh. Definitely worth a yellow for connecting with the player’s ankle but it was a mistimed rather than malicious challenge. There was a stamp on Doyle’s ankle later that had far more intent with the ball alreafy going out of play that went unpunished. And then a tangle that saw a player grab Semedo round the neck that only got a yellow with Semedo also getting booked for pushing him away.

Don’t think we deserved to be a man down for over 80 minutes.

What's this rumour about West Ham want Kilman and we want three of their dross.

Even GON has said the Gomes challenge was a red card offence. Whether intentional or not, he put his studs into the Brentford players ankle whilst being nowhere near the ball and the Brentford player had to leave the pitch injured.

Incidentally, Thomas Frank has said that the Brentford players stamp wasn't a red card. I think that shows which manager actually has some integrity.

Certainly not correct to say Gomes was nowhere near the ball. I think he actually played the ball but caught the players ankle on the way through.

What GON actually said was that it was badly timed, unintentional and could have been a yellow could have been a red.

I think a red was harsh

He didn't get the ball. He trod on the Brentford players ankle from behind.

GON's quote accepting it was a red card. Nowhere does he say it could have been a yellow.

"I could see it and I know Joao so it’s difficult for me to disconnect myself from knowing what Joao is and how honest he is and he wouldn’t do anything like that on purpose. But when you look at the incident in slow motion, I understand that it probably doesn’t look great, so I can accept it."

You have picked up on one comment GON said I have picked up on another. Take your pick

He did contact the ball

Sasa reported to be flying in for a medical at Eintracht Frankfurt today. It’s a loan and have read it will be an option to buy rather than an obligation.

Korea play a warm up game for the Asian Cup today against Iraq. Hwang and Son are on the bench, guess they don’t need a warm up.

Japan are favourites to win the Asia Cup with Korea second favourites. So those two teams are expected to meet in the final. Ifthat happens, Hwang will be away for our replay against Brentford and the 4th round tie if we get there. He will also miss our next 4 Premier League games against Brighton and Chelsea away, and Man Utd and Brentford at home.

Any Noise on when Mario will return? Without him, and Gomes now for three games, our centre midfield could look a little exposed. Not much info on the young lad Chirewa who came on. He is a midfielder but wouldn't think hes going to be starting any time soon. And what about Boubacar? Is he away?

posted on 6/1/24

Joe Hodge now fit

Boubacar is at afcon. Mario is still with his family but I would expect him to be back for the next match.

Doyle looks likely to get a run in the team now Gomes is suspended

The challenge on Doyle yesterday. Far more malicious and more worthy of a red card than the Gomes challenge in my opinion.

Pretty sure Lemina will be back for the next game, especially now Gomes is out.

Likely see Doyle alongside him you would think.

Great result for their manager George Elokobi

Only saw the highlights, but I think a red was the right decision regarding Gomes, even if it was a strange tackle. I also think the stamping on Doyle should have been a red too, but it just highlights the inconsistency and poor quality of referees in English football.

I'm not sure how much credit Neto can take for that goal to be honest. Crazy he gets an assist for it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He squared the ball to Doyle who scored a fantastic goal. Surely that's an assist, even if Doyle did take a couple of touches.

Regarding that foul on Doyle, the guy also threw out a back heel with what looks like into to kick him.
Did VAR look at it ?
