Mellor, fair play to you and nobody is having a pop at fans like yourself.

Bullsheet. It's a hook to hang your coat on Bec you've got with else. You never see fans of big clubs coming out with this bullsheet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are 92 FA League clubs and countless non-league.

The vast majority of fans are not "Big club fans" and support their club for the love of football and the love of their club.

The vast majority do not see success or only very limited success and will never win the PL FA Cup etc.

Your arrogance that "fans of big clubs never come out with this BS" shows what a you truly.

The question you really want to ask is why didn't they choose Spurs.

It doesn't really matter how a fan started out, as long as they are a genuine fan, that's what matters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Define a ‘genuine fan’? Choosing a big successful club that you have no affiliation with, never investing yourself into the club beyond watching games on TV and leveraging the success of the club to act like Billy Big Bollox online - as if supporting a more successful club somehow makes you a big man - is hardly being a genuine fan is it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, but even genuine fans get this accusation thrown at them, especially by Spurs fans who don't really care about whether fans of other clubs go to games, it's just that they have little ammo and resort to going to games because they have no following outside their borough and therefore most of their fans go to games.

It's not arrogance, it's true. You'll never see United or Arsenal fans replying with you don't go to games when owned in an argument, because they know it's be hypocritical as their clubs are supported by millions that can't go to games.

Spurs can use that without being hypocrites, big clubs can't.

I remember a manc on here making an article complaining about African fans. Turns out he made silly comments of Facebook and African fans (who can be fiercely loyal and can name the clubs under 17 line up from memory) went to town on him and owned him badly.

He ran back on here to seek consolation from more familiar sources, but I never saw him bringing up going to games. If he was a Spurs fan, that's what he'd have started with.

Tbh I see both sides of this. I think you can absolutely be a fan living anywhere. I also think a fan is not a supporter.

I also find plastics giving it the big one online to match going fans absolutely nauseating and makes our club look bad. Even that d!ckheads username is poor.

How do you know who is a plastic on the internet? And just because someone says they go to games on the internet doesn't mean it's true.

My Mum is from Liverpool and a scouser. Nearly her whole family are reds, there's always that one cousin or uncle in ever family that likes to go against the family and do everything opposite, so there's a few blues as well in the extended family. I was raised in Liverpool until around 7 years of age, but I have never lived in Liverpool since. I don't see myself as a scouser tbh but I don't have any links to any other club in the world, there is no other club I can support without being an actual glory hunter.

I also “support” the Green Bay Packers, a very successful NFL team - I chose them because they had a great QB at the time in Brett Favre. I absolutely went into that knowing they were one of the better teams and would have quite a few winning seasons.

I admit I am an NFL glory hunter. What I don’t do is bang on about trophies they won to say a Bills fan who has never seen his side lift the Super bowl but has been to watch them live 20+ times - I’ve seen Green Bay live once. I enjoy watching them, I banter with mates who support other sides and are as plastic as me and I celebrate big wins. But faaaaack me I don’t feel superior to anyone because Green Bay have won 4 Super Bowls and the Bears have only won 1

Do u think lpool fans who aint been to games feel superior to us?

Tbh, at the end of the day, we are not the ones playing or winning trophies so how much of a “right” do you have to act superior to any other fan? Not that that would ever stop us - it’s part of the fun of being a fan/supporter i.e. you can wind others up. How often you go to games shouldn’t matter IMO

But that's you. You do you. Others take it differently and are genuinely attached, following a club all their lives. People who have never been to England get into fights over English football. You wouldn't fight anyone's because of the Green bay Packers, would you? Well, not everyone is like you. And the NFL isn't like football.

You can't be a glory hunter because there is no local NFL league you could have followed instead of the NFL. Of you like American Football then what choice so you have but the NFL. Even if there was a local league the quality would be so sheet you'd still end up following the NFL. That's the way it is now with everything, not just sport, because the world is so much more connected than it was when these fandom rules about going to games and who can mock who were formulated. They were formulated in an age that has passed by already and we're borne out of circumstances at the time, when newspapers and the evening news was all there was and only one or two games televised, is at all. They've been overtaken by events IMO.
