My main criticism of Arteta is that I believe he has been more influenced by Moyes than Wenger/Pep. He spent the first two years obsessing about defending. Spending 100s of millions in the process.
__________
That sounds very much like Pep tbf spent shed loads on defenders over the years.

When fans started to turn against Wenger it was because he was only achieving Top4 and the odd FA Cup. Fans wanted more. Wenger was only competing against Ferguson in his early years. After that along came Chelsea and City with their Lottery wins combined with having to pay the stadium off. Wenger was still achieving Top4 with lower quality players than he had in his early years.

Arteta has done ok and the board have been more patient with him than they were with Emery .
Arteta had us near the bottom 3 around xmas time a couple of years ago and still wasnt sacked.

Arteta needs at least a couple more seasons to fully flourish.

On the other hand no one is challenging for a title with Eddie Nketiah up front.
We do need a goal scorer

Same reason why Liverpool's title has an asterisk

Arsenal need Emery

Out of interest which competitions are you expecting Arsenal to win?

League - City will always be favourite, a team will need to be truly exceptional and have some luck to be ahead of them at the end of the season.

Champions League - Better teams than Arsenal will fail to win due to the quality in the competition.

FA Cup - Knock out so always a chance, but last 5 years have been won by City x2, Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester. So you could argue that Arsenal have done quite well.

League Cup - lets go back 10 years, City x 6, Liverpool x 1, United x 2, Chelsea x 1. Not small teams winning.

It's pretty hard to win trophies, doesn't mean a team is moving in the right direction.

We should be winning at least 1 trophy a season. At the very least, make a final of a cup every season
