Martial to score our winner in the FA Cup final v Spurs.

It’s a shame with Martial. He has clear potential to be a top forward.

Under Ole at first I really thought he’d kick on and become a really good player. Injuries, attitude / mentality and poor management mean he will go down as a flop.

It’s a shame, but with hindsight he should have left in the summer realistically. He hasn’t played at all this season so it’s been completely pointless keeping him.

This is the worst possible news. Could completely derail our season now.

He was a shoe in for top goalscorer

While he earns around £2.5m recovering. He will have earned £65m from his last contract, in which time he has scored an average of 5 goals a season over his last 4 seasons, madness.

Woodward's policy of treating players like assets and trying to maintain book value by keeping them contracted has been one of the biggest issues over the last few years. It's great to hear that the new management will give players a 2 year window to perform, then shift them.

Thought it started under Ole not Mourinho?

Hopefully this kind of idiocy will now be a thing of the past.

tbf, he seemed like a decent buy at the time. Spurs were after him but United blew us away with a £36m offer (rising to £55m) which, in 2015, was a huge amount for a 19 year old. About average now!

Anything that could have gone wrong this season has done and then some.

I don't think we can include Martial in the bad luck tales anymore though. This is what he is sadly.
He's such a gifted player but he's got zero heart and desire and also plagued by injuries. Nearly the end now thankfully.

I think he blames Ole for aggravating his injury…
But, wasn’t it under Ole we got maybe his best ever season when he battled it out with Rashford to be top scorer?🤔

Knowing our luck, he’ll heal up, just in time to leave us in the summer, and bang in goals for his new club.
We just can’t catch a break…

Yeah it looked a good move to begin with but you do wonder if the club did their research on him properly. While immensely talented he's just never looked like having the desire needed to succeed at the top.

Also the 250k a week extension we gave him was ludicous. He had a very good 19/20 season but that didn't justify giving him such a increase.

We haven't really done research on any player (or not properly anyhow), mainly because of a lack of a dof. Hence why we've been &£%! for the past 10 years.

Hopefully Jim will sort this mess out. He talks a good game but actions speak louder than words.

The only thing worse than this is that we'll bring in Choupo Moting on loan to replace him. People here will convince themselves that it's not that bad and that he'll do a job. But it is and he won't. It will be another wasteful loan signing

Choupo-Moting would be an upgrade on Hojlund, at least.

We should go in for Taremi on loan. Or just buy him for €10M.

Taremi is woeful/ Moting too. Again sign someone from the championship or play our youngsters.

He would, he’s a better striker in all departments aside from pace.

Not sure where you are getting that from. He’s an ageing journey man with a pretty average strike rate through out his career.

Last season was his only real decent scoring season but any semi decent striker bags goals if starting regularly in that Bayern team.

posted on 25/1/24

From watching them both play. Being an average journeyman striker is still an improvement on Hojlund, who has done fack all in football.

posted on 25/1/24

I wouldn’t say he’s done nothing in football. He’s already scored regularly at International and CL level. He’s now starting to find the net in the PL also.

This season is pretty much gone anyway. We may as well keep playing Hojlund and hopefully he surpasses 15 goals in all comps.

Choupo Moting is a slightly better version of Ighalo in all honesty.
