I have been saying all along I fancy Spurs for 4th but changed my mind yesterday. Villa really Impressive with that big win. Very well coached team too.
Spurs look like a team that almost needs the summer break which is ridiculous really given you've had no European football and got knocked out of both cups early.

Spurs did remarkably well at the start of the season but a team will always face adversity at one point or another and how they respond to it comes down to several factors. A key one is the mentality of the group and i feel ours has been pretty strong this season.
The other is having the experience of dealing with struggles. This for me is a learning process and teams, even like Villa, who have had that continuity and time together (18 months for villa), can draw on that and the complete understanding of the strategy and how it should be applied in certain circumstances.
Spurs are still quite new to the current strategy and when we start to run out of ideas or go through a rough patch when it suddenly isn't clicking, we look like we don't know what to do, individuals make mistakes or these mistakes just get magnified. Suddenly the whole strategy gets questioned.
While we are totally right to question whether this strategy is sustainable we have to remember that we are still very much in a learning stage and things are not yet 'muscle memory' and we have to learn different skills, such as grinding out a result when the form isn't quite there, or managing in game moments better.
We are short of a few players and some quality in the squad and this needs addressing. While we have not had a massive burden of games it has been pretty stop start for the last 2 or 3 months and this also doesnt help.
Overall we are pretty well placed considering the stage of our development, it's certainly big progress in many areas. Whether we are able to make the next step will be down to how we reinforce and whether the strategy proves effective after we have developed the squad and broadened our experience.

I have always had a soft spot for Spurs and I can't really figure out why that is.

Gazza, Venables, Hoddle, Iconic shirt, we had a good record against them.
I’m pretty sure we will finish as low, as we possibly can…
Our players just aren’t good enough to play Ang tactics…
Our forwards aren’t good enough,, don’t create or finish enough chances…
Our midfield are seriously off form
Defenders & goalkeeper can’t defend crosses or corners…
It’s an absolute joke… once again, I’m seriously disappointed with another horrific end to the season.
I expect maybe a win against Burnley… I can see us losing to Sheff Utd also.
Can’t wait for the season to end!
I won`t be surprised to see Ange leave, his system requires certain type of players and our squad needs major surgery. Some of our players are good players but unsuitable for what Ange needs.
Levy will break out in a cold sweat at the thought of a major overhaul and at the same time we struggle to shift unwanted players.
It all points to yet more frustration and rather than major squad changes Levy may well look at it and think a different coach could get more out of the current mob.
Levy out.
Burnley and Sheffield are (dare I say it) must wins!
Ange will go to Bayern Munich
We're fortunate Sheff United and Burnley are so bad and we get to play them in our last 3 fixtures. That should be 6 points to secure 5th. Ange would have to lose the dressing room for us to have a chance of dropping points to Burnley IMO and I don't believe we're at that stage yet. Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea were to win all their remaining games so if we drop points in one of those games, we could finish 6th.
Thankfully Man Utd are even worse than us!
Still got Newcastle and Chelsea snapping at our heels for 5th tho!

And why not try and work with what you have, adapt and compromise a bit until you have more of the players you want/need.
Another 3 points, but job still not done.
All eyes on Chelsea now.
Worth pointing out that if we do finish 5th then we should be going all out to support Newcastle for 6th place. If that does become a Europa place then if Chelsea or United qualify, we’ll be relegated to pot 2 in the seedlings on account of their better European pedigree.
Can see Chelsea winning all their remaining games. 1 more point and we’ll be over the line.

One point against the rock bottom team on the final day will do it.
Well,we scraped a win today,after going down 0-1.
And we had to rely on our backs to do it! ---As I predicted!
This team is not going anywhere in the Euros, if we make 5th spot. Don't even think about 4th, Villa have that!
We have a great back 4 and GK.
But Son is getting on, maybe 1 or 2 years left, downhill.
And the midfield is in need of an upgrade.
And the Manager? I have my doubts...he's a one trick pony and won't think defence in any situation.
Well....perhaps bringing on Hojbjerg and Lo Celso at the end may indicate that he's learning??

I’d have preferred a draw because United are looking a little ominous at the moment.
I hate United. Absolute stinker of a club. All that money. All those mercenaries and they end up playing counter attacking football. Joke of a club. I really hope they choke and it’s still us and Villa fighting it out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If only we could be more like Spurs, where the players play simply for the love of the club instead of lots of money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a lot more love in our club than yours mate. Yours looks toxic. It won't be long before the wheels come off again and those same mercenaries will be standing around saying "not me" when the blame game kicks in. You haven't got any leaders. It's painfully obvious and no scraping of results is gonna change that. You were largely outplayed by West Ham at Old Trafford and 3-0 wasn't a fair reflection of the game. You were seriously fortunate to win 4-3 at Wolves and on another day Villa would have been out of sight today. Mark my words, you won't achieve anything with this passive football. It's scandalous to even consider playing that way with the money you've spent. Shiiiiithouse club.
