I hope it works out under ETH. I sympathise with him based on the squad at his disposal, and I think his signings have been hit and miss, probably on par with those managers.

Whoever is in charge, we are still a RB, CB, CM and winger away from having a great first eleven, then you really need a decent 4-5 on the bench minimum. The realise is after our starting 11 we’re really thin.

We don't know how good Mount is because of injury. He was highly rated at Chelsea, if Bruno gets a knack we could be pleased to have him.
Antony is his only certain bad buy imo, and name me a manager who hasn't made one.

Had this money been spent better we could competing with Arsenal and Liverpool to try and topple City. Instead we're competing with Villa, Newcastle, Spurs and Brighton.

There is a lot to criticise ETH on, but focusing on how much money we've spent on average players is a weird one. We are going to have this problem with any manager we appoint until we have a competent recruitment operation. There is enough proof of that with the last 4.

Hopefully that fix finally looks like it's on the horizon.

The biggest gripe I have with him is he's replaced DDG with an inferior player and for a lot of money. I was all on board with a ball playing GK coming in but I had no idea he was this dodgy with practically everything he does. As I said I didn't watch much of him at Ajax or Inter.

He also spent 85m on Antony who isn't even as good as Elanga and 55m on Mason Mount.

Had this money been spent better we could competing with Arsenal and Liverpool to try and topple City. Instead we're competing with Villa, Newcastle, Spurs and Brighton.

I still can't get my head around the Mason Mount one. It never made any sense to anyone. We didn't need that type of player given he made Bruno his captain the same summer.

You're competing against West Ham, Wolves and Brighton

He’s not wrong though in fairness.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He is though.

ETH isn't a head of recruitment, a scout, a DOF or a transfer negotiator. It's a failing of *the club* and it's footballing structures that we've spent big on Antony and made dubious decisions with regards to Mount (who's a good player when he can actually get on the pitch) and Onana (who I don't rate personally, but has quietly put a decent run of performances together before and since AFCON).

If INEOS can put the best in class football people in primary charge of squad building and leave ETH to coach then maybe we'll see the best of ETH.

This is such a cop out and I'm sick of arguing it.

I agree ETH shouldn't be acting as DOF as well as manager. I don't blame the man himself for being put in this position. We all know who is to blame for that.

What your doing is excusing him for wasting £150m on two players he knew very very well. Those signings were all on him. Nobody else can be blamed for this.

INEOS will put this right im sure but there's no easy way to get rid of any of them. They will all be on huge wages with very few to no interested buyers. We will be stuck with them until their contracts run out now. That's pretty much how it goes for our flops always.

All I can say is that he was crap for the last two years I have seen him play and he has been very crap so far for us. And very injured which was an alarming pattern at Chelsea

Onana is not worse than De Gea. The man has been unemployed for nearly a year for a reason FFS. I'll give you an example of why. Onana has repeatedly made saves this season where the likes of Gary "I can't say anything positive about United" Neville claims have just hit him. This has happened numerous times. How facking stupid do you have to be to see that as just luck, rather than an awareness of the positioning of his defenders and placing himself in a position where the attacker has to hit the ball to avoid a defender's block?

Now, I'm not saying he's been great but Onana has been better than De Gea was last season in virtually every available metric. De Gea was done, he was awful.

Don’t think he is the long term answer, we won today but we’re still way off where we should be after the money spent.
