Of all of United’s problems, Luke Shaw is way, way down the pecking order.

Yes we need a new LB. Not sure Malacia is good enough.

He is if we’re paying a lot of wages for someone that can’t get on the pitch.

I read the other day he's been available for only 50% of games since joining the club. However good he is that isn't good enough and wouldn't be tollerated at any top club.

I think the first thing INEOS need to address is our shocking injury record. Either we are buying injury prone players, are working them too hard or mismanaging their recovery.

Martinez, Varane, Malacia, Shaw, AWB, Mount, Amad, Donny, Casemiro, Martial have all missed far too many games.

Whatever it is, it needs sorting.

Bullsheet.

He’s played something like 45 of our previous 60 PL games,

It’s a shame because on his day he is fantastic but he just can’t be relied on. We need to upgrade our full backs in the summer because they aren’t good enough, and we won’t get anywhere without being able to play a solid back four.

He has been a mixture of Ok and crap. Today he was utterly crap and made Doughty looks like Mbappe.

Really. Wow. OK. I get people have different standards and whatnot, but 'utterly crap' That surprises me, but hey ho. We all have our opinions. That's why we are here 👍🏻

The stat is probably skewed by the broken leg in 2015-16. He was out a long time.

I think even without the time out from the broken leg, missing 50% of games from nearly a decade is way too much.

Maybe Dalot could stick about.
------------
Well, yeah.

I think the stick Dalot gets is massively over the top, sometimes bordering on a bit odd.

We could do better at full back but 1) I really dont think he is a bad player and 2) He is about the only full back, (actually the only defender) we have who seems to be able to stay fit. AWB's not-so-great injury record these past couple of seasons seems to have slipped under the radar a bit.

Was previously of the opinion that we should just sell whoever gets us the most money out of Dalot and AWB. Changed my mind on that - Dalot is way down the list of problems in this squad right now, and we shouldn't be selling unless we get an offer we can't turn down. Which we won't.

One of the frustrating things about our transfer business in the years gone by is just how often we’ve signed injury prone players. That even goes back to the last few seasons under Fergie when you think of Jones, Anderson, Hargreaves, the Da Silva twins (mostly Fabio tbf to Rafael!).

We look better when Shaw plays than when he doesn’t, but we can’t keep clinging on to players who have perpetual injury issues and calling them “the least of our problems”. Not having your best players available for the majority of games is massive problem!

It’s troubling that we’re saying the same about Martinez now as well.

We also should avoid the long pre-season tour that we had every summer. Even Maguire got injured when he’s been almost unbreakable for 2 years

posted on 19/2/24

I don’t think Dalot is sh-t and he’s showing signs of improvement recently but I don’t think he’s good enough moving forward as a club. But for now he’ll have to do and does possess some qualities that EtH wants in a fullback.

I guess this summer depending on our budget the priority signings are a CB, CM and RB. We also need to look at a new LB, LW, RW and ST but obviously can’t get them all this summer.

Can we get another nickname for the Butcher please.

I expect a CB given the moniker Butcher to be able to play most of the games not out injured all the time. Being over 5ft would help as well.

Maybe it's the boots they wear or the pitches at old Trafford or Carrington?
Either way there's no way Shaw is 6 foot 1

Possibly. His three injuries have all been unlucky impact injuries (broken foot, surgery that didn’t quite work for the same injury and then Coufal landing on his knee awkwardly). So far he doesn’t seem to pick up muscle injuries like Shaw does which hopefully means that this season is a bit of an anomaly. Would be very annoying if Martinez started picking up more injuries though.

This is true, but I just don’t trust Manchester United Football Club to keep players injury free. We finally broke Maguire down as well. Pednandes is the only one we haven’t broken yet.

Aren't INEOS restructuring our medical team as well and we took some top physio from Arsenal? Hopefully we can improve in that area, we've had a poor injury record for years.
