. the 1970 FA Cup Final against Leeds over two legs, was the starting point of my journey supporting Cfc.
I highly recommend to anyone who has not seen these games, they are worth watching.
English FA Cup, football classics
Well today 54 years on,
As much as i hate to admit it, we are there for the taking.
We should comfortably get past Leeds today, but to be honest if Leeds turn with up that 1970's spirit, we could easily let this game slip.
Always a great rivalry, looking forward to tonights game
COY Blues!
Funny you should mention 1970 - my Uncle managed to get hold of 3 tickets for that match so me, my dad & uncle all went up on the train.
Shame it went to a replay
Both sides were fckn amazing, look up the team sheets.

It wasn't over 2 legs ffs. In those days if it was level after extra time it went to a replay
yeah , excuse phrasing,
It wasn't over 2 legs ffs. In those days if it was level after extra time it went to a replay.
That's right the final was still a draw after extra time, and it went to a replay.
That pre-longed pair of games imo was what actually made the Final the classic it was.
It was a true battle!
Was checked a couple of years ago under current rules and would have been 9 red cards handed out.
yeah it was one of the dirtiest games ever televised.
Leeds had a reputation for being a very hard, no nonsense, physical side,( dirty as fck) the fancy dans of Kings road let them know what time it was
Leeds are huge favourites here because the average age of their starting XI will be higher than Chelsea's
I fancy Chelsea to score a massive upset tonight though.

i bet you it's not
can't call this 1, the blue billion pound bottle jobs won't be pleased to be playing us at this time. it's a game of 2 halfs, anyone can come out on top, it will just take 1 team to score more than the other
I was at the famous final and the replay, they were brutal games which we should have won.
I hope we win tonight but at this present time beating Huddersfield on Saturday is priority.
There can only be one result tonight and that is Chelsea 0 Leeds 1.
Leeds are looking very strong at this moment in time this season.
Chelsea are not as strong as they were in 1970 ! more's the pity ,both of those teams those days, would have beaten the present England rugby team !
So, my heart says Chelsea, but me' ed says Leeds .
Chelsea are not as strong as they were in 1970 !
Brilliant
Morning all. It seems right and proper to thank Earl for posting the MDT for this very significant game tonight.
It's significant, in my view, because we will be tested by a "top" PL club, albeit one that is experiencing turbulence.
My expectations are low although I'm obviously hoping for an upset.
It seemed to me when watching the Leicester game that their high press caused us problems. It reminded me of the games against Man City or Liverpool when we were in the PL. From what I've read, it doesn't appear that Chelsea are playing coherently enough to do that at the moment but we'll see.
We're the underdogs - just gotta go for it all guns blazing and trust that Farke can handle the fallout whichever way it ends up.
Agree totally with Hepworth that Hudds on Saturday is more significant still. Farke will need to use the subs early to save legs. Gotta crack them open in the first half and see what happens...
Suspect ITV4/ITVX will get some of their highest ever viewing figures tonight; far more interesting than that lot being shown on beeb 1 or L'pool on ITV1. -
I like the saying of "Play your strongest team" so if we do that then I'm confident we will be a match for anyone bar Man City and possibly Liverpool although their injury crisis would give us a chance which Chelsea were unable to take advantage of and I remember watching
them struggle to eventually overcome 9 players against
Spurs.
Chelsea undoubtedly have a very gifted player in Palmer and Connor Gallagher is another classy player I enjoy
watching but apart from those two I don't think Leeds
have anything else to fear and as long as we play to our
high levels and Farke picks a strong enough defence to
deal with the threats of Palmer and Gallagher I expect
Leeds to be a tough nut for Chelsea to crack.
My 1 nil prediction is based on our ability to withstand a significant amount of pressure and then to hit them on
the break which will be what decides this cup tie in our
favour and we gain our first win at Stamford Bridge
since late 1999 when we won 2 nil in the league.
7.30 is quite early for a midweek match, glad I read that one.
Makes a lot of sense on a school night.
I think the game should be played like the last meeting and any playing that wants to roll about and die should be shot immediately!..
And that goes for every game from now till the end of time!.

Forest v Man Utd
Liverpool v Southampton
Chelsea v Leeds
Wolves v Brighton
Both the BBC and ITV have gone safe with their choice of premier league team but I'm inclined to agree with you Rev, I think ITV have made a mistake.
Liverpool are one of those clubs that the guys at ITV love and will put on at every opportunity (like Arsenal were in the days of Bob Wilson) and any excuse to get sentimental about Klopp, expect plenty of fawning adoration about him in their coverage tonight.
