Yeah he’s a belllend, great player though. God probably told him to do it.

Haha yep! Apparently he used to take the p!ss out of players saying ‘Can you do this?’ etc.

Ridiculous player though and born too early. Put him in a midfield three as an 8 and he’d have about 150 England caps

Isn’t it disingenuous to put Klopp below all those managers because he wasn’t as successful?

He has been more successful Darren, so no.

Some things are remembered for years, others are quickly buried by the sands of time.

Klopp's legacy, btw, isn't just what he achieved with Liverpool, but at BvB too.

In the future, many (especially those of us who witnessed these times) will remember him for the great manager he is/was. Others, however, will only look at his resumé and fail to get it.

But this was supposed to be about Alonso, not Klopp.

Fwiw, and some of La Liga crew on here might remember, I had him earmarked as a future manager of very interesting potential -if he chose that route- when he was still in his playing days. Simply listening to him in his pressers, it was patently obvious that he had far greater insight and eloquence when it came to talking about the game than the vast majority of footballers. Add the position he occupied on the pitch and his clear understanding of all his duties both in attack and defence...and yeah, he was one of those players you ask yourself how far he'd go as a manager.

I've also tracked him through his spell at Real Sociedad B, who he promoted and made the only B team in the second division.

All that being said, I didn't by any stretch of the imagination expect him to have made it this far, this quickly. To take a team in relegation, lead it to a European semi (where they were basically just Joséd to death), and then go about 2/3 of the following season unbeaten (in all comps, is it?) - well, that simply an outrageous return. For now.
