Pep is head and shoulders above Norbert, Pep wins games and trophies through great coaching and great football, whereas Norbert manages a team of 13 men who are given the benefit of doubt in 90% of the games they play and dragged along by the officials.

given the disparity in available resources available to the 2 of them, the closeness of the finishing position in several seasons has been remarkable.
yes Pep is phenomenal. the standard and style of the football. the consistency of his teams. the ruthlessness he continually achieves is awesome. But for Klopp to get close regularly and challenge consistently is equally impressive DUE TO the significant disadvantage of the available resources to the 2 men.
it would be fascinating if we could rewind time 9 years and swap the resources over. Would both achieve the same levels of success? or would the trophy count be reversed too? i wonder....

Two grand masters of chess will have a match up. It's gonna be a best of 29.

One grandmaster plays with a full set of chess pieces. The other will play all 29 games with all chess pieces except the queen, a massive handicap.

After 29 games, the grandmaster who has been playing without a queen has won 12 games. The grandmaster with all pieces has 11 wins. There have been 6 draws.

Between these two grandmasters, which is the daddy?

Send me the answer via postcard, thanks in advance.

Between the two grandmasters, which one is the daddy?

Pep is the greatest manager of all time, but the only manager who’s managed to go toe to toe with him consistently is Jurgen Klopp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the point - Klopp never went toe to toe with Pep consistently. He went toe-to-toe with Pep about twice in total.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Premier league points:

18/19 - Liverpool 97, City 98
19/20 - Liverpool 99 City 81
20/21 - Liverpool 69, City 86
21/22 - Liverpool 92, City 93

In that four year period, we amassed 357 points to their 358. We got edged out most years but how is that not going toe to toe?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, so it happened twice. 18/19 and 21/22.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and we finished miles ahead of them one season and they finished miles ahead of us in another season.

Face it, you’ve made a fool of yourself. Nothing more needs be said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. Liverpool only went toe to toe with City twice in all the seasons Pep and Klopp have been in the PL together. Every other year apart from one freak season Pep has rubbed Klopp's nose in the dirt, along with the rest of the PL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By every other season, you mean one season?

Are you really this stupid?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you stupid?

You know Klopp was manager last season when City won the league and Liverpool finished 5th? Why didn't Klopp go toe to toe with Pep that time?

Also, why didn't Klopp go toe to toe with Pep in 17/18 when Pep won the league with 100 points and Liverpool scraped 4th place with 75 points on the last day of the season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We didn’t go toe to toe with them last season, nor their centurion year. But one point difference over 4 seasons, that’s about as well matched as it gets.

It’s ok, you don’t get it. Stupid is as stupid does.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its like Anchorman lol. '60% of the time, Klopp goes toe to toe with Pep every time.'

Allow me to update that list:-

Premier league points:

17/18 - Liverpool 75, City 100
18/19 - Liverpool 97, City 98
19/20 - Liverpool 99 City 81
20/21 - Liverpool 69, City 86
21/22 - Liverpool 92, City 93
22/23 - Liverpool 67, City 89

In that six year period, we amassed 499 points to their 547. We got edged out most years but that is not going toe to toe.

Yeah for the first couple of seasons we were still building and weren't yet ready to challenge.

I would agree that during your centurion season we were nowhere near you, nor last year but you were also nowhere near us in 19-20, but in the four years I listed we were toe to toe with City, and here we are again. You’ve been better than us, no doubt about it, but no team has pushed you harder than us. Let’s not forget that we’ve knocked you out of the CL in that timeframe as well.

All respect to City, best team in the PL era without a doubt, but we’ve been as close as anybody to Pep since he has arrived. It’s a silly argument to make against City v Liverpool being the rivalry in the PL during Pep’s time as manager.

Think this discussion has been done to death tbh!

Klopp's entire time at Liverpool doesn't matter. We should only talk about that golden 4 year period in which Pep still won 3 league titles to Klopp's 1.

Pep has spent over half a billion more than Klopp.

The fact that Klopp won one title is a miracle. He had absolutely no right to given their clout.

A good analogy would be handing one man £500m and the other man £1bn and asking them both to build the best mansion possible.

There should only ever be one outcome.

As for the titles, the two that City won by a mere hairs breath wasn’t so much down to quality but just luck. If a referee blows for Rodri’s handball then Liverpool win the title. That’s got nothing to do with Pep outperforming Klopp.

It could’ve very easily been 3 PL titles each. Literally with the blow of a referees whistle could’ve swung it.

Firstly, are you saying Liverpool FC are run by a local charity?

Rodri:

IF an Everton pl;ayer hadn't been offside.

IF the referee or var had given a penalty

IF Everton had scored.

The final score would have been 1-2 to City.

Talk about clutching straws.

Where does the second City goal come from?

Shouldn’t Klopp’s rivalry be with LVG, Mourinho, Ole and ETH seeing as they’ve all finished above Klopp as many times as Klopp has finished above Pep?
