BBC reported this morning that the US also warned Russia of an attack and they claimed it was western propaganda.

Maybe they will listen next time.

lol so we are just meant to take what ISIS say as gospel now and even though the attack hasn’t been verified as ISIS by any Western government, if we question it it’s a conspiracy?

It’s far more likely that the US are behind this OR equally likely that Putin his behind it and using it as an excuse to escalate things in Europe.

What would be the US motivation for this attack?

How would an ISIS attack in Russia escalate things in Europe?

ISIS are literally enemies of all of Israel’s enemies. In 2024 alone they have targeted Turkey, Iran, Syria and if the latest reports are to be believed, Russia. That’s not going to make Russia ‘switch sides’

Fuxsake, do you have any idea of the history between Russia/Putin and its Islamic satellites? Just because one things is happening in the world doesn't mean it's all intricately linked subterfuge.

Ergo ISIS is controlled by......?

I’m not saying the aren’t but let’s say Russia use that logic, why would they switch to Israel’s side if it n their mind, an Israeli proxy is responsible for the attack?

I've worked in the Middle East and East Africa for over a decade now. Two regions that can be described as hotspots for terrorist activity.

Travel advisories are a part of life here. Every single foreign embassy maintains a regular online bulletin for their nationals.

Many of these heightened threat levels regularly amount to nothing. But there's also been more than a few ones that did.

If Russia tries to blame Ukraine over the next couple of days then I reckon it will have been a False Flag Op.

Don’t be stupid. The US has already backed up the ISIS claim. Russia has a clear history of conflict against Muslims. They are not going to carry out this attack themselves, all their resources are in the Ukraine conflict, so why would they do something that would force them to have to divert them elsewhere? It makes zero sense, and the most obvious answer is that ISIS sees this as the perfect time to strike at Russia.

Putin will be under pressure for ignoring the US warning. He’ll be blaming everyone but Russia, and I think it’s safe to say everyone should take it all with a large pinch of salt.

You've just been posting links of Ukrainian soldiers with claims they have links to ISIS. So it appears you are already jumping on that train with them.

Some senior Russian politicians did indeed make the assumption it was Ukraine and called for escalation. We have insufficient information at the moment and anyone claiming certainty is driven by their pre-existing assumptions. But at this moment there is more evidence pointing toward ISIS than any other explanation. There's the self-proclamation by ISKP. There are statements from the US (with caveats) that suggest this is credible. And so far Russian official comment hasn't blamed Ukraine or the West, which would be the most politically expedient thing to do. Putin's domestic narrative is all about a traditional values Russia under existential threat from the liberal gay Nаzis in the West, who have seized control of Ukraine, and the need to mobilise national resources for this fight. I don't see how being embattled against more-conservative-than-us Islamists who are angry about Russia's support for Assad in Syria helps that national victimisation narrative, so it seems at this moment significant that the State isn't immediately pushing the line that it's the work of Ukrainian LGBTQ+ fascists.

Putin will not be under pressure because he has an iron grip on the media, the security forces and the political establishment.
