The four were all identified as being Tajiks. Not surprising, a real hotbed for terrorism and of all the five Stans I visited a few years ago it was by far the most tension riddled and clearly not friendly to westerners.

In the short handful of days I was there our transport had a window smashed, a cab driver spat at our vehicle as he passed and a guy ran over and killed a few westerners cycling the country not 30 miles from us. I had spent that morning exploring a hillside outside of the city all on my own, probably not the wisest thing I have ever done.

I literally work for an NGO that operates in these parts of the world. I've been to nearly all middle east countries and we have offices and colleagues and all that.

Maybe you were just unlucky or somehow were targeted for some other reason. Who were you working with?

Of course there's places not safe for foreigners but that's the case in all the world, and overall random incidents like you describe are extremely rare by my experience.

The guy might also have just been spitting and you thought he spat at your taxi? How can westerners be cycling in a place where they can be targeted like you describe?

Furthermore, why do you play the victim as a westerner when they are not welcoming to foreigners in general, not just westerners. Do you think they extend a red carpet for Africans and Latinos etc? Why you make out like westerners are some special victims among other groups in the world? In any case, they'd have valid reasons for disliking westerners more than others, don't you agree?

Isn't what you're doing here the very definition of propaganda? It's bullsheet tbh.

Mamba’s probably just talking shiite as usual. I generally find people who are in the sort of positions he’s on about very rarely big themselves up or talk so openly about what they do. Loose lips sink ships and all that.

That's where I feel we disagree I just thought inferring his missus was getting rattled by others was a bit strong for what said but I don't know your history with him or if you find it ok to infer that?

I've met a lot of people that work for NGO's through my wife and by all accounts they're a mess at the moment.

I don't know of an NGO that hasn't had it's funding cut and people aren't scrabbling around for grants. She manages a lot of people and is sat from 7 to 7 trying to clear the workload, continual meetings, this is not unusual. The impression I get though is the reason they show up like this is for each other.

So yeah it's annoying and personal to me when someone's sat on a forum all day because I get the impression you're the type of person that makes her life difficult at work. If you think taking a cheap shot at my wife could annoy me any more than that then you're very much mistaken.

I can tell you we definitely haven't had our funding cut. The parent organisation may have less funds than other times in the past but not enough to impact operations in the agency I work in.

There's many different types of NGOs working in different areas and the MO cannot be the same. Like I do more fieldwork than office work and I'm not required to be in my office all the time. There's a minimum I must spend in the office annually, the rest of the year is fieldwork and annual leave. Not to mention I now control my own schedule to a large extent.

I don't sit on the forum all day like you claim. I just have high visibility. For you to make such allegations is pathetic and uncalled for.

Furthermore, you stoopidly used your own missus to have a pop at another poster. What did you expect would happen? That's all on you and I'm not trying to annoy you, I'm clapping back and sending the package back the same way it came.

If someone is making your wife's life at work difficult you should perhaps do something about it in the real world.Don't blame me for your wife's woes and start ranting at me on the internet.

I have experience in my field and my work now is to coordinate things and make sure everyone is doing their job and that everything is working like a well oiled machine.

This doesn't add up. You're too involved with what goes on on this forum to be doing that for a job. The only reason someone would even get involved in a discussion like this is if they're not particularly engaged at work.
