I think it depends entirely on the physicality of the sport.
Sports that should be gender neutral, in my opinion, include things like darts, snooker, curling, I've never understood the reasoning begind gender categories in these instances.
Any sports that require contact or physicality, for me, mean anybody born biologically male or transitions to male, competes in the male category, only biologial females compete in the female category.
I believe the reason is obvious, but females transitioning go through various hormone replacement therapies and cannot compete with natural female athletes. These sports include track and field, swimming, racket sports, combat sports, ball sports etc etc.
Let's face it, even if a man was able to transition to be biologically identical to a woman, if people knew that they used to be a man, they would still feel that it is unfair. It would be more about the idea rather than the biology. And that would be very difficult to change.
Also sometimes don't get the motivation behind people wanting to attempt to compete in women's sport when they used to be a guy. You know full well the abuse you are going to get, is it really worth the bother? What are you really trying to achieve? Success, or just wanting to make a point?

The issue is trans/boys playing in women's sport is actually quite common in the US at the moment. Just last month a team had to forfeit the game because 3 of their players got injured by a trans person.
In the sport I play, there are a lot of boys playing in the at the girls level.
I'm glad men are calling this crap out as it's totally unfair, this will affect your daughters and granddaughters in the future.
Sports that should be gender neutral, in my opinion, include things like darts... I've never understood the reasoning begind gender categories in these instances.
--------
The reasoning is quite simple. Darts is, at the highest levels, yet women are simply not as good as men. That is why there is a need for a women only category.
I think darts is less to do with physical differences though and more because it was always a man's sport that only recently is providing opportunities for women.
The first Women's dart championship was in 2001 and the winner only got £4000.
Not exactly a career many women would have wanted to get into.
I've not read all the comments but I'm not really sure this is the big issue some people are making out.
For it to be an issue you'd need:
- A man who's got some decent athletic ability.
- That same man wanting to transition into a woman.
I don't know about you but I just don't think it'd be worth it to change gender just to win a few more sporting competitions.

This. I mean we can see above that people think it’s ’quite common’… it really isn’t.
If you listen to Rogan you’d think they were abducting children at four years old and making them transition. They’re not.
I’m not saying it’s a non issue but it’s pretty close to it, certainly in all the sports I know and watch.

But women have long been attempting (pre2001) to compete in the main Tour that made millionaires out of players.
A man doesn't have to have decent athletic ability IMO. Any regular man would dominate any women's sport if they get similar levels of training and exposure as the women they are competing against.

She joined the tour in 2022 and it's only this years she's starting to consistently win and making the papers for it.
She was getting regularly beat before then, and often quite heavily.

You think with training you’re going to run a sub 2hr 30 min marathon do ya?
You going to run the 100m in less than 10.5 seconds?
You going to jump over 2m in the long jump?
No, you’re not.
I would say in chess or checkers it wouldnt matter if you were man or women.

firstly, chess and chequers nowhere near the same game.. how ignorant - but lets stay on topic
There is nothing stopping the ladies playing in chess tournaments with the men, its not specific to a gender, however, the ladies do have their own tournement as the game/sport is very male dominated so they my not feel comfortable.
it doesn't make a difference tho, you're quite right.. the art of chess can be played by both male and female to a very high level.

Fair points, but you're being too literal for some reason. I'm too old personally for that, but if the change happens early in life and you get as much training as the women do then you will dominate any sport there is.
Didn't the all conquering Arsenal senior women's team absolutely thrashed by their u16s.
U16s have less training than the senior women's team but still whooped those all conquering women, who had conquered women's football to kingdom come. So it's even possible with less training than the women.
Didn't Serena Williams get utterly destroyed by a guy ranked 200/300 in the men's circuit? There's so many similar incidents which I can't recall right now so there's just no comparison IMO and most sports should remain gender pure.

Aren’t there physiological differences that mean that men are better at sports that require hand eye coordination?

You know how we separate men and women in sports due to the natural advantages men have physiologically? Should we therefore also separate by race due to the natural advantages certain races have in certain sports? Women get a chance to have success in events such as the 100m sprint. Why shouldn't white people who are naturally disadvantaged in this event, also get their own chance at glory? Seems a bit unfair the way it is. Then I guess we would face the same issues discussed here with the likes of Michael Jackson for example.
