Pretty much our season here I think. A win and we still might pull off the miracle, anything less and given some of the fixtures left it looks likely to be a limp to the line.

Next weeks game at Forest represents the deadline for players picking up a two game ban for accumulating bonus 10 yellow cards. Semedo only needs to be booked once in the next two games to get a ban, with Lemina also at risk if he picks up bookings in both the next two games.

Semedo certainly having his best season for Wolves and has become a real contender for our player of the season

I can't decide my Player of the Season, it's between GON and the whole team.

Several in with a shout you would think.

Lemina, Joao Gomes, Cunha and Ait-Nouri the top four for me, just not sure what order. Cunha is probably the most vital to our play but Lemina has been great alongside Gomes. Ait-Nouri the star the last few months comfortably.

2-2 for me, can’t see us stopping Shammers scoring.

The most improved players this season, in my opinion, have been Semedo and Cunha. Ait-Nouri has improved too since he's been moved further forward. Lemina and Gomes have been pretty consistent in the middle of the park.

Had Neto not got injured again, he would have been in contention. Toti blows hot and cold and our other defenders have generally been below par for the most part.

So thus far, I'd put Cunha at the top of the list right now.

Cunha looks set to start tomorrow. Further good news that both Hwang and Dawson joined full training today. Whether they’ll be ready for tomorrow is doubtful, bench maybe, but come next week we should be quite close to a fully fit squad.

Some interesting details from Kevin McGuire on BBC website with graphs on a variety of financial measures for PL clubs. Illustrates well why the big 6 cannot be challenged due to their far superior commercial revenue.

Easy to see where our problems lie too, overall squad costs are relatively high compared to others and our revenues among the lowest. We're mid table for wages and what the overall squad costs include isn't clear but I assume wages, net transfer spend, amortisation plus day to day costs, training facilities, food, transport, etc.

Can see why Fosun have been trying to grow our commercial revenue in innovative ways but it's contributed a tiny drop in the ocean so far.

And you have to look at Man City's £341m of "commercial income" and wonder how much of it comes from the UAE.

Find it hard to reconcile how we can have high squad costs yet have a small squad.

Do think we need more investment in Molineux to improve our revenues. I reckon we could sell out a 40,000 stadium for virtually every Premier League game and the money we get in from the boxes could also be more. Went in a box in the Steve Bull stand for a game recently and hated the lack of atmosphere in a box behind glass. And I don’t think I’m alone in that view because on the day I was there only 3 of the ten boxes were occupied.

Certainly wouldn’t go along with the view that our defenders have been below par. Kilman and Dawson have been consistently good while Toti has his moments but is still much improved, and I don’t think Santiago Bueno has had a poor game yet. Par means average and more than half the teams in the league have conceded more than us, and two more have only conceded one less. I’d say that puts us above par, on par at worst.

At the other end of the pitch where we’ve had a glut of attacking injuries we are now at the point where only 6 teams have scored less than us.

I love how you still bang the Ait-Nouri drum

He has been great all season hence your boy Hugo not getting a sniff.

This makes sobering reading.
It just proves to me that the big six will rule the roost for the rest of my lifetime.
Ultimately it will be the death of football unless things change, which they will when joe public gets sick of the cartel.

Joe public isn't very smart though. We had a chance with the euro super league and kicked up a storm instead

Should be an exciting weekend for Wolves loanees Nigel Lonwyk and Chem Campbell. They are both at Wycombe who on Sunday play in the EFL Trophy Final at Wembley. Also in their team nowadays is former Wolves striker Sam Vokes.

Their opponents Peterborough are favourites to win the trophy though

Big game today in the sense that if we got three points then we become very much involved in the discussion about European football next season. Defeat and the target would be a top half finish which in itself would surpass expectations from last August.
With Cunha back we at least have something more like a proper forward line for the first time for a few weeks. I would go with;
Sa
Kilman, S. Bueno, Toti
Semedo, Lemina, Gomes, H. Bueno
Sarabia, Ait Nouri, Cunha

Pleased to hear in his press conference yesterday GON saying he has no intention of walking away from Wolves despite his comments last week and he’s looking forward to his first pre season as a manager this summer

It's not quite the closed shop though is it, Leicester and now Villa have challenged the status quo. Besides if a super league was introduced the money would follow it, that guaranteed £100m + of broadcast revenue would dwindle to less than £5m. Sky and the foreign broadcasters aren't going to be piling billions in to show Bournemouth v Middlesbrough on super Sunday.

I imagine there would be some parachute payment arrangement in practice if it did happen but long term for clubs like wolves it would most likely be the end, it'd be like back to the 80s, home grown players and cast offs from the big clubs. Would Fosun stick around, very much doubt it. Only way it could work for us is if we were part of some wider euro league feeder structure that allowed us to still have a route in but is that what we want? Away trips to Dnipro and Dundee?
