Sure. But the put the player back in rule existed before the miss rule didn't it?

I don't know how far back the stats for pot, long pot, safety success, but it would be interesting to see the tournament figures for the finalists for each year there's figures for.

When a player commits a foul and the cue ball remains on the table, the opponent may either play from the resulting position or—if the position is disadvantageous—request the offender play again.
