Ineos could well decide to keep ETH to help clear out any mess next season because that’s their ready made fall guy there. If they bring in their own man and he fails whilst they sort out the mess then that’s two decisions they’d have to make and their judgement will be questioned right away. Not stating that’s what I’d do but Erik may yet be saved by virtue of the changes being made above him.
If I am honest, I have absolutely no idea.
Ruben Amorim looks Liverpool bound, I don't expect Alonso fancies the job. They're probably the hottest properties right now.
Could Nagelsmann be an option? I've read the Nice manager is very well respected.

The next manager won't last 2 seasons, so if I'm honest, I'm not precious about who it is.
A bit numb to it all whatever happens happens, it’s impossible to predict who would be successful with us so just leave INEOS to figure it out and what they want to do, think the pantomime still has some time to run yet.

Very probable. My Southgate comment was more a quip about a 'Nice' manager though!
I think Erik could still do a job though if he changed it up a bit in the way we set up. It's really killing us IMO.
I don't know anything about the Nice manager, but INEOS will.

I guess we can least take the fact that INOES found a young, talented coach to take over there.

Will be interesting to see how INEOS play this one. If we had Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox through the door upstairs already, I think there's little doubt ETH would be given the boot, and our summer transfer plans and squad re-building plans would be in place and ready to be implemented.
But Jim & Dave may take a longer term view; the important backroom pieces of the puzzle are not yet in place, meaning we'd be going into the managerial market and the summer transfer market a little blind and without the decision makers that INEOS actually want to be making these kind of decisions.
That could mean we retain ETH for now, and could also mean our summer signings are quite limited so as not to overcommit to certain players or a new manager before the first choice sporting people are in place.
With that said, I'd be surprised is Ashworth & co weren't having any kind of communication with INEOS about future ideas, and signing players to improve us shouldn't be rocket science; we need to massively improve our athleticism and technical ability across the squad, paying particular attention to age, potential and fitness/injury records.
To give a name... personally I'd be looking at Nagelsmann. Young, has managed top players and won trophies. Plays a pretty exciting brand of football as well.
Last I heard about Nagelsmann was that he's going back to Bayern.
I hope we don't go for Allegri, he's supposedly leaving at the end of the season.

I can see question marks over any possible candidates currently managing in the EPL, and none of them are screaming out to me 'yep, I can manage a big club'. Some of the managers abroad I don't know enough about for a real opinion on. I guess Nagelsmann could be a good choice.
Sometimes I wonder if we should take a punt on a real left-field choice - go for potential rather than someone really proven at a certain level.
If we get De Zerbi it's going to take some time to have a team in place that is able to play the way he likes.
That's the big downfall. You just don't get time at this club like you don't at Madrid, Barca, Bayern. You have to come in and succeed (relative to the season goals) immediately.
I definitely wouldn't be unhappy with De Zerbi though. Brighton absolutely play us off the park regularly.

De Zerbi would be a disaster with this squad.
Imagine him trying to play out the back with the likes of AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Verane, Casemiro, Dalot, Rashford, Bruno.
The only players who could play in such a way are Onana, Martinez (never fit), Shaw (never fit) and Mainoo.
The rest crumble under any kind of pressure or are simply incapable of keeping the ball.
Not to mention the forward lines lack of movement and technical ability.

Maybe, but that's not really the way we should be approaching our next appointment. Regardless of who is the manager, we're never going to get anywhere near the top with a backline who can't play out, players who can't keep the ball under pressure and a forward line who lack movement and technical ability.
At this point, we need to identify the manager we want first and get the players who fit second. Otherwise top 4 is always going to be our ceiling.

Apparently TH will still be at United next season. Ineos are resigned to this and are making plans to get their new football management structure in place by the end of the season, to work with ETH as 'The Trainer'.
This is because all the suspects who have been approached by Ineos since they took over has turned the gig down. Including Gareth. And who can blame them. They will be watching closely to see how well Ineos do with their new structuring plans and working with a trainer type manager.
Basically its not a given that Jim and his Ineos people are actually going to walk into United and get it right.

That's where I disagree. The footballing directors need to decide what their vision is, and recruit accordingly.
The manage is a part of that, but more important is the scouts, the youth development and player recruitment.
I've said a number of times, the next manager won't last, because it'll either be a stop gap manager to get results with this squad or it'll be a manager who can't get the squad to play how he wants.
