Quite annoying that despite our dominant win, Bolton and Peterborough both scraped 2-0 wins to dent the GD

I wouldn't say the -1 change was a dent.

Midfield was a notch down today compared to recent games. Both Smith and Adams seemed less dominant. I've got a splitting headache, I think from the tension in the second half. Wildsmith's kicking was shocking but it looked a great save that he made in the first half. Some fantastic blocks by the defence in the second half.

Definitely not the best performance from our keeper (the one with the most clean sheets in L1) but a blinding save for sure. Never seen such poor kicking though.

Understatement of the season

Remember, we are building a side that will survive comfortably in the Championship and no more. No flirting with play-offs, getting ideas above ourselves or any such nonsense. This is achievable

Think Joe lost his confidence after Nels bo11ocked him for being indecisive.
I suppose in mitigation, the wind was all over the place 2nd half & it wouldnt stop coming back at us when he lofted it. When he kept it low he generally gave it straight to Camb players.
Thank heavens for the back 3, esp Cash

PS I think I saved Scouse from a medical emergency by going in his place today !

Was hoarse before kick-off today. Both Firstborn and myself sounding as though we have had laryngectomies at the moment. Having a soothing and calming glass of wine. After Pompey and today I'm wondering if I'm getting too old for this sort of stress. If a crucual match got abandoned because I had snuffed it from a brain haemorrhage I would never forgive myself! Unless we were losing at the time, of course.

I don't bite my nails, but I made an exception today.

Bradley was exceptional too, in fact the back 3 as a whole.

Yeah Wildsmith was hardly commanding in the air but it didn't matter. Mot easy for defenders trying to follow the flight of the ball in that wind either. We have the highest number of clean sheets in the division (21 I think). Credit to the individuals and to the defensive coaching. We have been unbelievably solid at the back.

21 is correct, vidal.

And with makeshift full backs for much of the season. Have to say Sibley has reached another level in that position recently.

If he had a right foot he'd be worth £20m

Not sure why he gently passed it to their keeper in the second half rather than sticking it in the corner of the net.

Louie Sibley
He'd probably be worth 20 million
If only he had a right foot
And he hates Forest

Could catch on

I think vidal has been on the sauce.

I still rate Wildsmith but he does need to work on his dead-ball kicking. I assume he is told to aim long and wide down the flanks but he nearly always finds touch giving the initiative back to the oppo. Today that played right into Cambridge's hands.

Re Sibs' chance to score a second the ball was too close to him to be able to open up his body and bend it wide to the goalie's left. Unfortunate.

Thank goodness for the back three who were heroic and needed to be against that wind and that style of football.

I did wonder when watching on RamsTV if it was windy as the kicks from Wildsmith looked to be falling short constantly in the second half. So the awful low kicks might have had something to do with that. But he’s still well in credit for me.

Interesting that Warney in his post match interview said that they'd practiced playing on a bone hard pitch all week. Reminds me of how they used to say the baseball ground pitch was worth a goals start.
Although this season isn't over it does seem inconceivable that we won't get a positive result on Saturday... that said I seem to recall Carlisle stuck 3 past Posh recently...so can't be taken as a foregone conclusion.
So assuming we get the result everyone is hoping for then my thoughts go towards players for next season. I think this aspect needs a topic of its own... but interesting to wonder who will be able to step up...and who won't...
I know we took a straw poll on POTY and YPOTY but for me Cash for both. He gets my nod because (a) He's been consistently good (b) He showed his loyalty to DCFC when he could well have done a Birdy and forced a move.
So yesterday... who cares... that one is now history. It was a game of 2 halves and the one bit of quality won the game.
Just a special mention for Warney and his team. I was always confident that he'd come through - even if at times it seemed we were wobbling. Can he do it a Championship level ??? For me, yes.... Cheers. Terry in Spain. UTR

I think criticism of Bird for wanting to expand his personal horizons is misplaced. He’s clearly stated it has nothing to do with his view of Derby or their potential. He wants to go and live somewhere else and have a different life experience. More power to him and thanks for the fish in my view.

Ferguson has basically given up saying he will rest players for Tuesday as he’s secured a home second leg playoff place.
