Yes, and you’re the only person that doesn’t agree with it

Plenty of press reports today that Lopetegui will take over as West Ham manager at the end of the season.

Has signed I believe. They are welcome to him.

Be interesting to witness his reception at Molineux next season.

It seems to be the norm these days that our losses are being blamed on "mistakes", more than anything else. Another reason why our defence has to be revamped this summer. We have certainly missed the aerial presence of Dawson.

It is the norm now that results are being determined by players being absent with injuries. And we just don’t have the depth of squad to cope with that. We went through a spell when all of our best forwards were injured. Now the problem has switched to our defence.

No team in the world better at exploiting an opponents weaknesses than Man City. And us going there without Dawson and Santi Bueno meant we sent out a left wing back as a right wing back and a right wing back as a centre back. And City’s first three goals all exploited the weakness on that side of our defence. Although the referee can claim an assist for the first

Palace beating Utd. Doing well since they changed manager. Be a tough game on Saturday

WO was the choice of number 1690 deliberate. As it is a significant number for Rangers fans and their knowledge of 17th century dutch monarchy.

Being put forward that there are 4 potential big money sales that Wolves could make this summer if they want to generate funds to expand our small squad;
Kilman £35m
Gomes £40m
Ait Nouri £40m
Neto £50m

It’s expected one of those will be sold, maybe two.

Kilman is the least likely to leave given he’s captain and had a chance to leave for Napoli last summer but wanted to stay

Gomes will receive interest but may need another year with Wolves to further prove himself. No question his value could rocket over the next year

Ait Nouri is interesting some big clubs and a large offer would be difficult to turn down

Neto is the most likely to leave unless his injuries have put buyers off.

posted on 7/5/24

Kilman has been a disappointment for me this season and maybe one of the reasons he stayed was because he got the captaincy. Of the 4 mentioned above, both he and Ait-Nouri would be the ones for me.

Semedo has one more year left in his contract, as do Sarabia and Dawson. Not sure any offers would came in for any of those, but even small offers would be better than nothing next year. Plus Sarabia is the highest earner.

Can't see Kilman's value above being met, but offloading the likes of Fabio, Podence, Guedes etc could boost the coffers a bit.

I'd certainly hold on to both Neto and Gomes unless outrageous offers came in.

No doubt Ait-Nouri is our most expensive asset these days and pretty sure he will leave and I am cool with that, he has earned it.

Think Cunha is our second most expensive asset right now and wouldn't be surprised at all if an approach was made.

Can see Gomes having another season with us but he to is gonna be worth a lot of money soon enough

Neto, just can't see any club going near 50 mill currently and probably not even 40 mill either. If he can have one full season with us he could boost his fee once more but seems a big if right now.

Kilman for anything over 25 million would be a no brainer. Just don't rate him much at all and a move to Italy would be a massive mistake for him for a start.

Agree with all that Cinci. 👍

RAN will move to one of the top three for over £60m this summer. He’s worth all of that as well.

Zero doubt in my mind that him limping off in minute 55 against West Ham, coincided with the start of our season unraveling and subsequent relegation form.

posted on 7/5/24

Certainly be disappointed if we sold Kilman for less than £30m. One of the most consistent central defenders in the division and disappointing he hasn't yet got an England cap.

Gomes is our biggest asset and if he makes normal progress next season and stays fit he will become our highest ever sale. Don’t see Cunha leaving this summer. Ait Nouri is not the sort to push for a move but if a big club makes a good offer he will go.

Seems to be a consensus that Neto will go, just hope we don’t sell him cheap after his injuries

I’d like us to raise some cash for Podence, Silva and Guedes but don’t see other clubs matching their wages so they are likely to be loaned until their contracts expire. Sa and Semedo should bring in a few bob though

Dortmund, 5th in the Bundesliga, get through to the Champions League Final. PSG hit the woodwork twice in Dortmund and four times in Paris but didn’t score in either leg. Mbappe did very little tonight

posted on 7/5/24

Probably unrealistic but I'd like to see us just offload Podence, Silva and Guedes, maybe Hoever and keep the rest of the squad together. We might scrape enough together from the sale of those four to afford the elusive no 9 we've needed.

posted on 7/5/24

It would be ideal to just offload fringe players, and I’d certainly like to keep all of our current first team squad. And evidently we don’t need to sell to meet the sustainability limits. The sales of Neves and Nunes fall into this year so we have that credit.

The problem is that we need to try to strengthen the squad, and replace any of our stars that leave with players of a similar quality, and increase our senior squad from 19 players to around 24. So we probably do need to sell at least one of our main assets to meet all those needs.

posted on 8/5/24

One of the possible solutions to increasing our squad size is bringing players from the academy through to full members of the first team squad. Chirewa looks a possible and Hugo has been unlucky not to get more games this season. We will get to see Enso Gonzalez in the Olympics for Paraguay, but not sure there are others.

Then are there players that have been on loan who could now get a chance. Can’t see Podence, Guedes or Silva playing for us again. But Mosquera looks possible and Chiquinho and Cundle have both had good seasons and Hoever too. Lembikisa, Hodge, Fraser, Chiwome probably will be loaned out next season

Following up Spangles': "So we probably do need to sell at least one of our main assets to meet all those needs."

If only one, which main asset would we be willing to sell. We would have to balance the loss to the squad with the potential revenue received.

I suppose the candidates are Neto, Gomes, Kilman and Ait Nouri. Possibly Semedo or Cunha.

If I had to select one of those to lose, based on the criteria I have mentioned I think I would, reluctantly, choose Kilman.

What say the rest of you?
