You have that the wrong way round. It was Xavi, Scholes and Alonso that were not Gerrard. You focus too much in style here. Gerrard would have played any role Xavi, Alonso or Scholes played to world class standards. Not the same style but just as effective for the team or better especial in the case of Scholes.

He said Scholes is the best he ever played with and now saying Gerrard was better than Scholes so he's obviously confused. Either that or he bigged up Scholes in the past out of loyalty as a friend and teammate. I mean how is Scholes supposed to feel if everyone is raving about Gerrard and even Fergie desperate to sign him? Apart from shaaagging senior citizens, Rooney has always been a decent lad
