Seems I have upset the Stans who probably have Eminem, 50 Cent and Drake in their top 5 dead or alive...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Putting Eminem in the same bucket as Drake or 50 is a nonsense. There’s no case you can make for Em not being in the top 10.

MMLP2 was only 10 years ago and was the most technically impressive rap album ever.

Personally, I felt the reaction Kamikaze got showed that too many people (hip-hop fans and critics) no longer value the tenets of rap, specifically lyricism.

If it’s not boats and ho’s they no longer want it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not just rap alone. Conscious, grounded in reality, well made music with a real message you can take in or relate to is on the decline. It seems to me music about partying and material things is the thing.

Haven't listened to an Eminem album for the best part of 2 decades. Not in the top 20 all time, barely makes the top 100.

I’m sensing a mumble rap playlist in your future…

Mumble rap? That sounds like something that has developed from Eminem/50 Cent era.

Honestly never heard of Young Thug, only know of Future because he is related to Rico Wade and only know Gucci Mane from his "beef" with Jeezy.

I’ve never really been into to rap stuff, but Eminem is great to listen to and I’d say the overwhelming consensus is that you’re talking utter horse shiite.

Think that sums it up tbf. Cheesy music of all genres gets the listeners in. Gimmicks sell to the casual listener, that is why Eminem, Black Lace, the Cheeky Girls etc have top 5 hits.

Eminem 1st two albums were good ….did the odd good track with others too (2001 album with Dre) but once he went all pop I gave up with him ….guess that’s where the money was with mainstream stuff

Not listened to any of his stuff apart from his early stuff for 20-25 years

Similar to green day …..great early stuff (dookie one of the best albums for me) then went all poppy to fit in

Sometimes artists sell loads because they’re good.

You’re being too obvious now. You’ll be posting YouTube videos of some rap artist from Limerick playing in the local working men’s club next, stating he wipes the floor with Eminem.

He said he listened to it, found it too pop so hasn't listened to it for 20-25 years...

One thing I will give Eminem, he summed his fans up in Stan on point - crazy mo' fo's .

He may have done some decent rap stuff at the same time but when thinks like ‘not afraid’ came out that was it for me

I may have missed some good stuff in between but it was too pop for me ….it certainly was nothing like his first albums

Agree with this but that early stuff was special and puts him amongst the best IMO.
