Eminem 1st two albums were good ….did the odd good track with others too (2001 album with Dre) but once he went all pop I gave up with him ….guess that’s where the money was with mainstream stuff
Not listened to any of his stuff apart from his early stuff for 20-25 years
Similar to green day …..great early stuff (dookie one of the best albums for me) then went all poppy to fit in
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How can you slate something you’ve never listened to?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He said he listened to it, found it too pop so hasn't listened to it for 20-25 years...
One thing I will give Eminem, he summed his fans up in Stan on point - crazy mo' fo's .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, he said he hasn’t listened to any of his stuff for 20-25 years, apart from his old stuff. Attention to detail DJ.
And not all people who like his music are like Stan. That’s just being silly.

Let's not get crazy here, Eminem never did Pop at all
I think his longevity and mass appeal go against Em in this discussion. People disregard decent songs like No Love, Talkin 2 Myself, Stepping Stones, Cold Wind Blows, Best Friend, Not Afraid etc because they aren’t “classic Em” but that doesn’t and shouldn’t detract from masterpieces like Stan, Sing For The Moment, The Way I Am, Who Knew, Rock Bottom etc.
All things considered, it’s impossible objectively to not include Em in the top 10.

Agreed. A song like Stan is 100% rap music and just because a rapper does a remix or cover for another song or feature a pop artist doesn't change that IMO.

That is actually the correct answer. Since day 1. Idk what people are talking about when they say they liked his ‘early stuff’ before he ‘went pop’. The combination of his elite lyrics and the perfect beat to match is what made him so iconic. When I was growing up I got hooked in by songs like My Name Is and Real Smily Shady because they were catchy. Then the more you listen the more you appreciate the lyrics and the way he delivers them.
Saying he went pop is just a manner of speaking. Something changed whatever you call it. For me his best music was made with Dr Dre involved. Lost something soon after that IMO.

Pop music is grate. Music hipsters can get in the bin.

I judge on a song by song basis rather than the artist.

Dido was terrible though, simpering cack, her stuff actually used to annoy me when I heard it on radio, if she was a band she’d be Coldplay

Let's not get crazy here, Eminem never did Pop at all

I think Recovery was the closest he got to pop. Love The Way You Lie was such a hit and I think consequently people forget there were some absolute tunes on that album.
“He did a song with Rihanna! He’s Pop!”

He did pop/rap hybrids, without doubt.

Agreed. A song like Stan is 100% rap music and just because a rapper does a remix or cover for another song or feature a pop artist doesn't change that IMO.

When did Eminem go pop?

1999
