ETH could win the quad and that would be a reason for why he should get sacked for some people

For some people in this scenario you must be rival fans right?

Not sure where you're going with that one personally. If we were competing for all 4 trophies up until the very end of the season he wouldn't have many detractors at all. I certainly wouldn't want him gone.

But when you're 8th place and concede more goals than you score after spending £400m then serious questions have to be asked.

He might end up staying now but I don't think it will be longer than a year if he does. Giving him a new contract at this stage would be barmy.

Proper managers would resign out of pride.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol OP you need to relax there isn't a single person in the world which would happily give up millions of pounds when being publicly treated like ETH by his employers out of "pride"

He would be an idiot to hand in his notice. He is doing the right thing. If they want him gone then pay him up the million's he's owed and move him on.

INEOS are coming off very badly here at the moment with the way they've let these stories leak about speaking to XYZ managers. I was hoping the first thing they would do is introduce a policy of being professional but alas it seems they aren't any different in fact probably worse in some respects to what United had before.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally, I believe they are just newspaper BS, swallowed whole, by the more gullible

Ten Hag was quite clear on his feelings post the FA Cup final. He has to keep some of his opinions in house but it felt like he came out fighting for his position.

He isn't going to resign when he could have a large amount of compensation at his disposal should he be sacked either. Not that he needs the money, he comes from vast wealth in Holland.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He did more than fight. He TOLD US he'd had assurances from the club.

TH has been quite grown-up about all this speculation about his future at United. Unlike INEOS who in contrast have been quite childish about it (which is VERY worrying about our potential new owners elect).

Clearly the new INEOS lot are squabbling over their garden hedges with each other about if he is to stay or not, or who should replace him, and who has the most say about the final outcomes.

Jim really, really needs to clarify this situation and back or sack the manager to knock the speculation on the head. It's as if the Glazers are still running the circus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Childish and squabbling. Jesus.

They are professionals. Why should they comment on speculation. Thr manager, the last time he spoke, said they had assured him, so what mote should they do?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
make a comment to the press or TV, something Jim loves doing about everything and has taken every opportunity to do so, so far that just hints either way or that its business as usual. It cant be helpful for United that the club are being dragged through this speculation.

btw I DONT expect it to be him saying that 'me and the boys have discussed it at length and weve decided not to sack him right now'. Which is what I think a lot of fans want to hear.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't speak for the OP but there's dozens of very good reasons why he should be gone tbf.

Manchester United losing 19 games in a season shouldn't be happening. Not when we've spent as much as any club in world football over the last 5 years.

He might end up staying now but the fact we've allegedly been meeting with managers like Tuchel says it all so the OP does have a point in that regard. He's a bit of a lame duck manager as they clearly don't fancy him otherwise they'd have backed him publicly by now.

How often do we see owners go on TV to make statements re their manager?

As for speculation, the club makes fortunes from its capability to provoke stories.

So his point that when a club speaks to other managers at the end of a season, the incumbent manager should just quit every time? That would make for very interesting summers for many many many clubs every season

Nothing fluky about the league cup win. In fact the only thing we lucked with the Coventry FA Cup semi, we were by far the better side against both City & Newcastle in the finals.

Nobody says City fluked their way to the final after some dodgy officiating decisions in the semi do they?

They would put all this ridiculous speculation to bed if that was the case surely?

If they have decided to stick with him for one last season they would have briefed it by now surely?

As I told you yesterday I think they'd did decide he was gone and the FA cup win has surprised them and put a spanner in the works. He'd have already gone had we lost that game I reckon.

And again, what woukd the be briefing? He has a contract, and hasn't been sacked. If that changes, no doubt they will tell us.

I think your suggestion the FA Cup win has thrown the owners is ridiculous.

However unlikely it seemed, there were only 2 possible outcomes to the final. To suggest the hadn't planned for a win, is just ridiculous.
