James Milner played in pretty much every position in his career, bar GK and CF! Not sure his quality would be high enough for this conversation though.

Gullet was pretty versatile and ended up playing at CB/Sweeper for Chelsea. Certainly capable of playing all the attacking positions in his prime.

Seedorf would do well in most positions as well. Probably too small to be CB, but most others.

Zanetti played just about everywhere in defence and midfield as well.

Gerrard and Rooney are both decent shouts though.

Played at left back, right back, midfield, plus both attacking wings.

Did this at the highest level for both club and country, under different managers at Juve, Barca, Milan and the Italian national side.

Can see Viera running down the wing and whipping one in myself.

i think the 3 mentioned are the frontrunners.

Bale hasnt been mentioned here which has surprised me because he has had few backers at work.

He had everything.. Strength / Speed. Header. Jump.

Obviously not the best ever but Daley Blind is a very versatile footballer who is pretty comfortable in most positions, seem to remember one game for United at cb where he completely owned Lukaku

Made a great save to deny the continent of Africa their first ever World Cup semi finalist aswell

For Man Utd? Maybe Giggs, Scholes, Beckham one of them since they didnt cost you a penny, cant get much better bang for buck than that.

Scholes in defence would mean they would never finish with 11 - even 10 would be pushing it.

Never understood why “scholes can’t tackle” was just laughed off by refs rather than cards after he scythed another opponent down - laughed off like “what do you expect, it’s Scholes, he can’t tackle”
