He was on as a fresh body for less than 10 mins. He did what he was supposed to do. No more, no less.
Didn't have much chance to shine as he was put in the 10 position and England were avoiding committing to attack, so in most instances didn't hit him when he was a potential out-ball. He was typically secure when supporting team-mates in close combinations.
Can’t draw any conclusions from that

He didn’t faaack up
Then again he might not have touched the ball
H ecame on gor Bellingham and took an advanced role on his No10 position. Dont think he touched the ball. England were too busy in our own half giving the ball away and making Serbia look good enough for a possible draw.
Then the final whistle blew.
He had about 2 touches...
Did fine in the limited time he had
Not enough time on the field and brought into a negative situation. Didn't do much wrong but then didn't really have the opportunity to do much.
Baffling decision from Safegate to drop Bellingham back and go defensive for the second half when England had controlled the game and were keeping the ball well in the opposition half.
If that was going to be the tactics second half then TAA should have been replaced with a more combative midfielder with more energy such as Gallagher or Mainoo.
Really strange decision which could and should have backfired but for Serbia lacking the finish.
Fkin shades of Eth that performance from England. Pathetic.
Mainoo was probably the best player on the field today. Controlled the game and really felt his presence throughout.
This being a Man U thread, the way you won the FA Cup (Coventry) must give England hope that somehow we can play absolutely sh!te and win something.

There close combinations, composure and willingness to take the ball are why he should be starting ahead of Trent in my opinion.
Club bias aside, Trent simply isnt a CM, not at this level with his lack of experience playing there.

We played well for 65 mins against Coventry tbf and we just got complacent and nervy outta nowhere. We should have been 4 or 5 up really before they got one back.

I can see why Mainoo isn't starting - it's a lot to ask a kid with so little experience to play in the pivot when a lapse in awareness can be so costly. TAA's passing from deep is an undeniable asset, and if you put enough protection around him, he doesn't have to be the primary ball winner. It was interesting that Mainoo eventually replaced Bellingham. I'd have liked to see his team mates trusting him to receive the ball, not from the point of view of pushing for another goal, but because I think he's good at making the ball stick, and giving us more possession higher up the pitch.
He was terrible, bin him!
I am a little worried about Trent in the middle, arguably the best passer of the ball in the squad and games like yesterday are fine where he isn't under much pressure but I worry against better sides and his lack of ability to retain the ball under pressure and slowing down play. While Mainoo is very young and lacks experience it's the one area he excels over others in the squad.
Trent reminds me a lot of Beckham, best out wide, brilliant passer of the ball but not best suited in the middle where they probably want to be.

That was my reaction during the second half too, would be interesting to know if Southgate purposely did that or Bellingham did it himself. There were signs in the first half too.
He’s our best player and I include Bellingham in that statement too. Mainoo’s close control is better than Jude’s.
